And this is the problem with casual fans. They always look at their roster in a vacuum. The top of the SEC was already ahead of Tenn on paper and they didn't sit still. Tenn fans need to concentrate on beating Vandy for a change.

Furman - W

Georgia Tech - I'm going to say W. Tenn with the better roster and perhaps slight advantage coaching but the game is on the road. I think GT is going to be breaking in some new pieces but this could be sneaky tough. Key is really good.

Kennesaw State - W

Texas - L. Texas has the better roster and better coaching. Game in Knoxville helps level the playing field

Auburn - W

Arkansas - W

Alabama - Toss up. Bama has the better roster and coaching is about equal. Home game favors the Vols

South Carolina - W

Kentucky - W

Texas A&M - L. Aggies with the superior roster and coaching is about wash. Road game for the Vols makes it worse

LSU - L. LSU with the superior roster. Kiffin vs Knowles - advantage Kiffin. Knowles is really good but he's not on Kiffin's level. Huepel vs Baker - wash. Huepel is solid but Baker is legit. Top 10 D last year with absolutely no help from the O. Now with Kiffin, much less is going to be asked of Baker's crew. D reloaded and upgraded the D line. Home game helps the Vols keep it close.

Vanderbilt - W. I don't think Vandy sneaks up on people this year. Tenn has the superior roster and slightly better coaching. Lea has had some clunkers before Pavia.

Heupel has been consistent - consistently 2nd rate. There's no doubt the offense is good. Knowles is going to upgrade the defense. I don't think it's enough to punch through to the top of the conference. I think it is good enough to be best of the rest.
