True. It was such a hard school that Stetson Bennett couldn't earn a degree there in 6 years.

You do realize you helped him make his point, right?
Stetson Bennett would have been an honors student at Tennessee.
I'm sure you are right. Bennett's not earning a degree in Learning Design and Technology at UGA was probably much harder than any program at UT. Or he is a dumbass that was still able to stay academically eligible at UGA. It's Georgia...not Dartmouth. Just because the general academic programs score higher on the US News and World Report rankings, it doesn't mean that the athletes are Rhodes Scholars. There are crip programs there, just like there are everywhere else.

Bennett would not have been allowed to stay on scholarship nor be a walkon at any school but UGA.

College now is no harder than LB Landry HS now and you have tutors, online classes, basket weaving classes, and sympathetic professors - print the shirts.

For idiots to claim they are college grads - duh! I know several.

Most of those players won't finish college or will transfer elsewhere.

Yeah, what could possibly be the motivation?

Since most will be required to use the degree and with NIL being a thing, a lot of them are doing sport’s financial stuff.

Probably like aggy back in the 80s and 90s where half the team were majoring to be "forest rangers"...

Texas is one of the few places that is not too ashamed to put their players' major in their bio...
So here are the majors that Texas players are enrolled in. (Not every Texas player's major is listed.. but most are).
In first place is "Undeclared"...
32 Texas players are "undeclared"
In Second place is "Physical Culture and Sports"
30 players major in this.
Courses include Intro to Health Promotion. Management of Physical Activity and Sports Programing. Roll of Sports in African American Life and History of Physical Culture.
10 players Major in some sort of Communications.
The rest of the majors on campus at Texas have 32 Texas players enrolled. I counted 16 other majors that players were enrolled in with Business being next most popular with 8 players.
I would assume every other school is similar... but not willing to show evidence that their players aren't serious students.

You aren’t very smart if you are asking why a school would accept money from a student.

There are plenty of college degrees that are largely worthless as far as generating income after college, and that goes beyond athletics.
Colleges have no problem letting you pay them money for a degree in a field that doesn't yield income on the back end commensurate with what you paid them to get that degree.

What is ol Stet Bennett up to these days? Is he working at Riverbend Supermax as a corrections officer with a tiny bottle of pepper spray for defense?

I really want to rail on Georgia because they deserve it based on their track record, but really, have we reached a point where none of this even matters anymore?
Some of these kids are just going to transfer out anyway, bounce around to different schools, never graduate, and make more in four or five years than a huge majority of the entire American population will in their lifetimes.
Hell, just guessing where all of this is headed, there's probably a lawsuit brewing somewhere on the West Coast right now that's challenging if a college athlete even has to be enrolled in school.
