Vandy should be in. They could win it.

You are not wrong but given that the committee already has Notre Dame 5 spots ahead of Vandy, I don't see Vandy leaping over them just because of the big win in Knoxville.
Notre Dame always gets a bump just for being Notre Dame. Bama does too but I don't think anyone gets a bump like the Irish do.
Also, Notre Dame is getting a lot of mileage out of their two losses as both games were to current CFP top 12 teams and both games were very close late in the 4th quarter.

If BYU wins and Virginia loses, I think the Big 12 gets two in and then the committee has a real headache deciding between two loss SEC teams, plus an Ole Miss team missing coaches vs. a 2 loss Miami that beat Notre Dame.
To beat Bama a second year in a row for Vandy (this game in Tuscaloosa) was a big ask. They probably could have taken a P4 mid tier team in OOC and won, and still be in. They still have a shot but they need Bama to lose and hope the committee sees a two loss Vandy as more worthy than a three loss Bama. But they aren’t gonna punish Alabama for playing the extra game. And they won’t punish Georgia even if they lose again to Bama.
It’s an uphill climb for sure. This leaves Texas completely out of the discussion. And if they leave Texas out, they’ll leave Vandy out unfortunately. Even with one less loss. Pavia has to come back next year for his tenth year to seek his revenge

Ole Miss played the easiest schedule in the league.
And went 11-1
Vandy played a very weak schedule and went 10-2. Their best wins are against Mizzou with a backup QB and an unimpressive UT team with a lot of injuries and a D2 QB.
If want to make the playoffs you need to do something impressive. Nothing Vandy has done this year was impressive.
Simple as that

They just have the bad luck of being a 2 loss team in a year when the SEC has 6 teams worthy of getting in but likely only 4 spots, maybe 5 available.

Unless Bama loses badly, I think the SEC would raise holy hell if their bell cow program was denied a CFP berth.
Based off last weeks rankings, they are out if they lose and BYU wins. BYU won convincing and Bama… not so much. I doubt we see much movement to insulate them this week
The only way the gumps are “safe” regardless of outcome is if the committee penalizes Ole Miss hard for losing their coaches
It is crazy 10-2 regular season SEC teams might not make the playoffs, but with scheduling discrepancy and lack of chaos among the top teams (leaving a shitload of 11-1 / 10-2 teams), it is what it is

Vandy should 100% be in over Oklahoma. That team is vastly overrated and has a dog shite offense.

Nope, Vandy is better than ND for starters

Instead we'll get Tulane and JMU or some shite.
It will be laughable if Tulane gets in over Vandy. They got smoked 45-10 by Ole Miss and lost 48-26 to UTSA. They have no wins over ranked teams and played mostly losing teams. They would get demolished by Vandy.

Vandy also played South Carolina
This is as retarded a take as it gets
By that logic, LSU should be in the natty for beating #4 Clemson
No a retarded take is assuming that every team that played X team...played X team at their lowest point in the season.
USC has a top 10 pick QB and first round D-linemen, they were full of confidence...and Vandy humiliated them. Itd be like saying playing LSU early season before their implosion or playing Mizzou with Pribula was same as playing them at end of season. Its dumb to ignore context

People don't understand that it is not only about the games you win...OR just the games you lost, but a combination of the two.
Vandy's best win:
#25 Missouri
Vandy's Losses:
#10 Alabama
#14 Texas
I get it. I would like to see Vanderbilt in over a James Madison or Tulane, too. I think they deserve it over either of those.
What hurts Vandy is that they have not been consistently good.

Your two best wins are Tenner and Mizzou, hoss. Great season, but we're trying to get the best ten in after we give out two free passes to the poors.

Not sure about Ole Miss, but definitely Oklahoma.

Vandy not getting in will be criminal. Imagine if they had played Notre Dame’s schedule. And I’d say the same for the Shorthorns, although losing to the Billy’s is a real millstone.

I hate ND with a passion...but....
ND beat #17 USC and #23 Navy. The only ranked team Vandy beat was #25 Missouri.
ND lost to #7 Texas A&M and #12 @Miami by a combined 4 points
Vandy lost to #10 @Alabama and #14 @Texas by combined 19 points
ND has advantage in wins and it's pretty even in losses.

I agree. 12 best teams should go.

Vandy also played South Carolina when they were #10 and unbeaten
Auburn has a great defense
LSU has very good defense
South Carolina 4-8
Auburn 5-7
LSU 7-5
It's not the record when played or where they were ranked when played. End of season tells a complete story. So, no, Vandy does not get style points for the combined 16-20 records of teams they played.
ND (As much as I hate them) beat two ranked teams, both of which are ranked higher than the single ranked team Vanderbilt beat.
