Just get a Z71 Tahoe/Suburban or Timberline Expedition. Ample passenger and luggage space, can pull, strap the kayaks to the roof. As others mentioned, there are issues with the GM lifters so get an extended warranty if you go that route.

That road has zero shoulder. Veering off the road would have put them in someone else’s living room. As I said earlier, Lacy could have waited 60 more seconds and the road turns into a wide open double lane highway.

Exactly. Look, I’m not going to wish ill will on anybody but the people defending Lacy’s actions that day are pathetic.

I grew up around that area just like him. Had he waited literally 1 more minute, that road turns into a double lane highway where he could’ve easily passed up the other car(s). And I know damn well that Lacey knew that too. His actions were 100% reckless and preventable.
