Bama kinda out physicaled them today. Beat em up a little.

I thought their defense would be the difference. I was counting on Bama to simply outscore Vandy. Thankfully, Pavia showed up hung over af after partying with JF.

They actually have a good team, but they live or die by Pavia. If he's not making remarkable plays and throwing for 75% completion % theyre very average on offense.

Agree except I might say their offense is below avg without Pavia.

Bama thinks they are back. Hilarious. Vandy handed the game to them on a silver platter.

You apparently dont know football. Are they the second coming of Nebraska in the 90's? No. But there's no way youve actually watched them play and think theyre not good. They are a solid team that will beat several SEC teams this year and Tenn might be one of them.

The last time Vanderbilt started the season 5-0 was 2008. The Week 6 AP Poll was released on October 5th and they were ranked #13. Mirror that to this season, when on October 4th (week 6) they were ranked #16.
In that 2008 season, they had beaten 2 ranked SEC Opponents (#24 USCe and #13 Auburn). This year, they beat the only ranked SEC opponent they had faced to that point (#11 USCe).
In 2008, they lost their 6th game on the road by 3 points to Mississippi State. This year, they were about 30 seconds from losing on the road to #10 Alabama. So, 2 relatively close losses on the road to an SEC opponent.
In 2008, they would lose games 6-9 (including to ranked Georgia and Florida). This year, 3 of their opponents in that 6-9 stretch are ranked in the Week 7 poll (#10 Bama, #14 Missouri and #11 LSU). Texas is the unranked opponent they have in that stretch...so going 0-4 is highly likely, again.
In 2008, they beat Kentucky in game 10, then lost to Tennessee and Wake Forest to close out the season. This year, they face 3-2 Auburn at home in game 10 before closing out at home against Kentucky and against Tennessee in Knoxville.
So, they have had a strong start...but a 6-6/7-5 season is still highly likely for this team. They do get a bye this weekend...but much of the season hangs in the balance when LSU rolls into Nashville on the 18th.

Probably us. Our offense is anemic and our defense can only hold up so long against a running qb.

Sigh, is it because they got you last year that’s blinding you to reality? I’m genuinely curious at this point.
Are they slightly better than the regular Vandy? Maybe. A QB and OC has them believing they are better than they are.

Vols are going to beat living crap out of you and Vandy so hush.

Now, now. I’m sure we can find another winless FCS team to come there and bend over.

Vandy is a hard out. The key to their offense is using the running game to stay ahead of the chains and then Pavia picks his spots to pass when you are trying to stop the run. BUT if you get them into passing situations, like third and long, his passing efficiency goes way down. They are someone else's problem now, thank goodness.

Bout the only thing you're going to beat the crap out of is your sisters pecker.

No, they have a legit OL and a bruising RB. They have one very good TE that is a hybrid between a WR and TE. Then you've got Pavia. They rely heavily on precision blocking and they use a lot of motion and eye candy. Your defense better be disciplined.
Their defense isn't going to out talent you but they are fundamentally sound. They are rarely out of position. They're not the Vandy of old where you can expect blunders and the key stone cops.

Agreed… surprisingly it wasn’t Bama

They have zero depth, a very limited roster, a creative OC that gets the best out of what he has, and a decent group of role players that bought in.
They have an experienced, dual threat QB.
Possibly the nations top TE.
A still-gelling OL that consists of a senior and 4 grad transfers, including an amazing Center in Jordan White that you should check out.
They rotate 4 RBs and have the 3rd highest per-rush average in the country.
They rotate 10-14 DL every game and are 7th in the nation in sacks, including doubling Alabama's sacks-allowed total for the year.
The biggest weak spot I think would be the DBs. However, they mostly kept Bamas stud receivers in front of them and held Bama to 3 FGs in the second half prior to the garbage TD. Despite the offense giving them no help.
I think Bama looks stronger than anybody in the SEC right now and Vandy held their own as a team despite Pavia running his fat mouth and playing mostly like doo-doo.
If your teams underestimate them like you and some others do, you will suffer defeat.

Pavia had a crap game because Bama made him have a crap game. We literally got the lead in the second half and then commenced to run the ball ten straight times to eat clock and wear down your defense. Bama coaches chose to dial back the passing attack because they realized your DL was starting to wear down, so they switched to body blows.

Beating up acc schools doesn’t make Vandy good losing to acc schools does make you bad though !
