ya lets overpay when we don't have to

I don't like this. There are many talented ADs out there, and we had to kick in the neighbor's door as we move in down the street. Not getting off to a good start if you ask me.

Tl;dr. You Aggholes are mean. Maybe this will heat up our new 'rivalry' a little more? I think Hyman was really pushing for A$M to become our cross-division opponent instead of Arky. He is a great AD and has done so much for USC. It sucks but hopefully we can get someone in here that can pick up right where he left off. These are some of the best years athletically, the Gamecocks have ever had.

Agreed. Great AD. Hired Frank Martin and Gary Patterson and has led USC to their most successful athletic era in its history.

SC fans are pretty much some of the nicest people in the SEC. It will be interesting to see how they react? If they take it badly, it would be the first time I have ever seen them get into somebody's grill

I'm in Columbia right and have had a great time every evening. South Carolina fans are good folk

I was surprised Hyman was ninth out of the 12 AD's in total pay. We should have bumped that a good bit before this happened. Think aTm got a good AD for SEC average price.

The South Carolina fans on here are by far the best group and from everything I've heard they are great people in real life as well. Business is business though, and I'm excited about this hire

If true, I am going to be positive because it sounds like USCe really likes Hyman. But going after the AD is not some kind of mean thing to get all riled up about. If anything it is a sign of respect and flattery. We overpaid because we DESPERATELY NEED someone who knows how to be successful in the SEC. I think South Carolina will be fine. They have some solid teams humming along right now. Maybe Tanner will take over, just a bit sooner than originally planned.

Actually I have heard we are doubling his salary....going to be an offer of 1 Million.
if that is true (and its a big if) I would imagine its not a $1 million base salary. Its probably something like 700-800k with incentives.

Bill Byrne made $690K plus incentives that took the contract to a $1MM if he hit his metrics.
I bet you are right on thinking Hyman's contract will be in the $750+incentives range, which would represent a huge raise over what SCe is currently paying him.

Ohhh...we are not happy about this for the most part. Can't wait to stomp their fricking asses for joining the SEC then poaching our AD. Maybe he'll be their new 12th man and yell leader or whatever those frick-knuckles call them.
