Talking about the last 100 years with A&M having a relation to the future is just naive. Up in to the '60s A&M was a predominantly male and military school with under 10k students. By 1983 A&M had 40k students. Now it is actually has more women than men and over 50k students (largest in the SEC and larger than Texas) and nearly 400k alumni. The State of Texas has gone from 17 million people to almost 27 million since 1990 and well over 20 million live within 4 hours of A&M. A&M has a $7 Billion endowment (3rd largest amongst public schools) which is twice the size of Vandy and nearly 6 times the size of UF. We just won a federal contract for vaccinces that is the largest grant in the State of Texas since NASA. A&M is about to do a massive rebuild of Kyle Field that will likely be in excess of $400 million.
None of that will win a game in the SEC or guarantees success but to act as if A&M is some little cow college is laughable. The top end potential of A&M is staggering. The appeal is there for an AD to come in and take an established program that is about to have a massive cash injection and take it to the next level. It's an exciting time in College Station.

I was talking to my really good SC friend a bit ago and he mentioned that Tanner has been AD in waiting for a few years according to some, with Holbrook taking over as HC of the BaseCocks.
He said Tanners dream job is AD and it's well known.

Yea we all know that and it's thrown around quite a bit.
But some are just not sold on it.
Ray has also stated he's having way too much fun coaching, I can't see him hang it up this early. Of course if this was down the line then maybe I'd say yea

You'll have to do that for a few years just to get competitive. Better use some of it on players.
