Clemson was good, but best ever? Nope. They only beat 2 top five teams. Bama beat 3 top five teams this season.

Their rushing D gave up 96 yards a game which is good but Clemson's d this year isn't close to GOAT.
2011 Alabama gave up 54 yards rushing pg. Their defense was good but no where near historical. Lots of great dual threat QB' s could of ran on them.

Dabo is certainly kind of the college football world. The melt will be glorious when he takes over for Saban when he retires.

No, Dabo does not need to do any of this. Nobody is saying that Saban is not historically the greatest football coach of all time. It’s just saying his reign is now in the past since Dabo publicly neutered Saban.

They’re becoming a national brand and they’re recruiting extremely successfully in SEC country. Deshaun Watson and Trevor Lawrence from Georgia. Sammy Watkins from Florida. Justyn Ross from Bama. Travis Etienne from Louisiana. Tee Higgins from Tennessee.
They may pull DJ from Cali next year.
They have arguably the top facilities in the country, they’re investing the resources to keep him and his staff happy.
Dabo is doing at Clemson what Bowden did at FSU. He’s created a monster with staying power.
Dabo would be a fool to ever leave Clemson.

And yet if Saban wins it all next year, then you can’t say that. What Saban has done is outside the scope of one year. It’s a decade of sustained success, with the last four years being matched by Dabo, and simply matched, not surpassed. Same overall record. Same head to head record. Same number of Championships. Last year Bama whipped Clemson in the playoff. These knee jerk reactions are always so lame. It’s the Skip Bayless hyperbolic way of thinking and it is fricking terrible. It annoys me how so many people earnestly give legitimacy to these terrible takes.
