I think the budget cuts may have something to do with all of the upgrading and new facilities that are on the horizon. That money must come from somewhere.

Naw mane... its the buyouts. They don't have the money for new facilities. Hell, they just got done paying off Tuberville and Chizik.

You do know that most of the buy-out money comes from booster money, right?

ETA Just like the school pays $500K towards the coaches contract. The rest comes from other money.

I think AU is the 2nd most profitable AD in the SEC.

As of July 9, the school said it had sold 31,195 season tickets and had started selling mini-plans to incentivize people to come to the stadium. Just a couple years ago, the school had more than 50,000 season ticket holders.

I like shitting on Ole Miss, but what is going on down there?

Declining enrollment, declining donations and attendance.

Is it a symptom of the state overall, or just Matthew Luke?

Wow. No way they can buyout Gus with these huge cuts.

Boosters already said with no hesitation they would cover it. It’s personal for some of them.

I wonder how the law change related to tax deductible donations will impact all athletic departments.

Every SEC school has a "foundation" that has been a tax shelter for baws with foobaw sickness forever.

Now that tax loophole is gone.

shite product on the field with a shitty HC the last couple years. Attendance was bad last year and season tickets are way down.

Florida fans shite talking Auburn are almost as funny as Gamecock fans. At least they've beaten Auburn this millennium.

Edited for punctuation.

Every public and private University has a private foundation that accepts and manages donations and grants.

Yes, but most big sports schools have a separate foundation for the athletic department. At Arkansas, it is the Razorback Foundation. Those $$ go toward supplementing coaches' salaries, and facilities improvements.

Auburn’s Athletic Department got a little bloated under Jacobs.

Or maybe Jacobs could raise the money to support that lifestyle while the new guy cant.

Those upgraded facilities have been on the horizon for years yet there is still no definitive plans or even a time line to break ground even after your AD has raised up to 65% of the cost already.

Why did AU recently delay the baseball upgrades which were promised to Thompson when he was hired 3 yrs ago?

AU needs a football only facility and Gus pledged $2MM of his own money. Why hasn't your AD presented plans for BOT approval, when is the time line to break ground?

AU agreed to pay the former Prez 2-3 times his salary to leave? Then the AD made a drastic 10% budget cut across the board after the slashed his own staff by half a dozen people only a year ago.
