It should catch everyone's attention when Auburn is reducing expenses by 10 percent across all sports.

...but recent expenses have eaten into its surplus. In an article on AuburnSports.com, Auburn athletics director Allen Greene described the nature of cuts as mostly cosmetic — having teams stay at more budget-friendly hotels on the road, eating at Outback as opposed to Ruth’s Chris, perhaps more bus rides for away games than charter flights.

Similarly, interim athletics director Keith Carter told the Ole Miss Spirit that his department's budget would be reduced by 8.5

USA Today

On the other end of the spectrum
they also noted some schools have been proactive and forward-thinking
quote:

Georgia has done some good work on this, putting future home-and-home series with Oklahoma, UCLA, Florida State, Clemson and Texas in addition to its annual Georgia Tech rivalry. Florida also scheduled Texas and added Colorado, Alabama will go home-and-home with Texas, Notre Dame and Oklahoma.

Which is why Bama can drop a cool $90 million on the football stadium next year and $600 million on all athletic facilities.

There used to be the haves and have-nots with the Power 5 and the rest.
Now there may be a new haves and have-nots within the Power 5.

This is really old news for Auburn. It’s been going on for a while. Auburn’s Athletic Department got a little bloated under Jacobs. Plus, with Allen Greene coming from Buffalo, he knew a lot about belt tightening. I like him, but it’s to be seen how well he does.

AU was fat under Jacobs. He had positions that really did not have functions and everyone knew it. The biggest question that the press isn’t asking is why has it taken Greene so long to make these cuts. Auburn just looked at the bottom line in the past, but never tried to increase their profits because there was a lot of good ole boy nepotism.

It’s already hit Auburn with recruiting. One booster said that if they were after Cam Newton today, they’d only be able to offer him $10,000 above MSU’s offer. Then maybe the money wouldn’t be “too much”. Who knows?

It's been almost a decade since LSU made it to Atlanta. But, yeah. They're definitely way better than Auburn.

If they fired Gus I think a lot of money would roll in to help pay the buyout. Just my 2¢

I think the budget cuts may have something to do with all of the upgrading and new facilities that are on the horizon. That money must come from somewhere.
