If you zoom in really closely you can see the marijuana growing all along the runways.

Gus has long been accused of a high school offense. In more ways than one.

The Captain on my China domestic
flight with Shenzhen Airlines last month was a 27 year old American. He lived in the same Sea World block that I was in.

I posted it about an hour ago.

Google has lots of pictures that include the new terminal if you're interested.

Years ago, when I was still flying for the big D out of Atlanta, I picked a football charter and flew the Pitt team to Easterwood in College Station. It was back in the Larry Fitzgerald days. He torched us to the tune of about three touchdowns that game.

Sorry.

I remember playing them but I thought we went there? Fitzgerald just killed us.

All this means is that your school is so rural that it had to build its own airport because the surrounding area couldn't support one.

Congrats.

I'm surprised Ark doesn't have one. ;)

In all seriousness, back in the day it was a lot harder to get to places like Auburn and OM as well as other rural campuses. We played both Bama and Auburn at Legion Field for ages. And we also played both OM and on occasion State at Memphis.

No, runway is not long enough to handle 737 or larger Aircraft. Auburn charters out of Montgomery (45miles) or Hartsfield (90 miles).

UGA doesn’t own the Ben Epps Airport in Athens but it does have the influence to have the city expand the runway for athletics teams to fly 737s out of Athens. Used to have to bus to Hartsfield to make road trips, now it’s a pretty quick and smooth process

Yeah, I remember talking to their head coach before push back and joking with him about flying with an Aggie and noticed Fitzgerald sitting in First Class with the coaches.

At the time, I wished we could stay for the game. Just as well, all things considered. I did get to see the game on tv wherever it was I spent the night.

It was a H & H.
I went to both games.
Never—in all my years of following Aggie Football—have I witnessed a player so thoroughly destroy us.
Fitzgerald put on a one man clinic at the game in College Station.
I remember silently getting into my car afterward and feeling like I’d been violated.

Believe the Athens Airport is either owned by or heavily subsidized by UGA starting when the commercial service stopped flights in.

Fayetteville has Drake Field, which doesn't have commercial service any longer. It's big enough for team private jets to fly in to, and it's 5 minutes from campus. It used to be the big airport here, until they built XNA in the 1990s.

Pre mid 1990s, Fayetteville was a lot more like Auburn or Oxford are now. We didn't even have a real freeway. Now we have a 2-county metro of 500,000 people and direct flights to 18 cities.

Typing that gave me nostalgia. And a sad....

Epp's longest runway is 6100 feet, you might be able to land a 737-700 (maybe), but you wouldn't be able to takeoff from there.

Real universities (other than Auburn, their aviation program is legit) fly out of real airports handled by FAA ATC approach controls such as Gainesville, which is worked by JAX approach.
