She gives her detailed scientific explanation of why she recommended to the Big 10 to cancel football.

CNN Interview

Basically football would be a lot of trouble with students coming back to campus and all.

Seems like the nation is at a 50/50 stance on this.

My position is: if __% of us are going to die of it, might as well not let the other __% of us die from starvation via job loss. Everyone get back to work. Unless there is something else that we are being fear-mong’d into doing.

I know everyone here is a lot more interested in college football, but I think high school football is where your real problems are if we're talking about public health and safety. They don't have the resources to test players multiple times a week like the big-time college programs and a team outbreak will have a greater impact on the school.

"With students coming back to campus football is another factor."

"It would take a lot of effort."

I could argue for canceling football better than that, and I staunchly oppose canceling it.

Why do people keep letting medical professionals dictate our final decisions. They have no perspective on what society forfeits in order to obtain the marginal increases in safety that they seek. They don't even have proper perspective of the health and wellness that is sacrificed by radically changing our society.

One of the ACC’s top medical advisors believes college football can be played safely in 2020 despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Dr. Cameron Wolfe, an infectious disease specialist at Duke and the chair of the ACC’s medical advisory team, told the Sports Business Daily that enough has been learned to safely move forward.

Duke Dr Says College Football can be played Safely

“Can we safely have two teams meet on the field? I would say yes,” Wolfe told The Daily. “Will it be tough? Yes. Will it be expensive and hard and lots of work? For sure. But I do believe you can sufficiently mitigate the risk of bringing COVID onto the football field or into the training room at a level that’s no different than living as a student on campus.”

Oh The National Enquirer is more creditable than CNN

I'm 100% for letting the student athletes play their sports while following stringent protocols.

Can you imagine explaining to the team that the reason they aren’t playing is because it might be too hard to try?

This is 100% why you don’t let your medical advisors be your final policy decision makers. That’s not their job. They’re always going to argue for pure safety at all costs above all else.

Their advice should be one part of the calculus

This is why Governor Ron DeSantis forbade his county Health Directors from making recommendations to the local school boards on whether or not it was safe to have school in person this fall. He KNEW their answer would be no and he knew what a cluster frick that would be to the kids, the parents, the economy, the teachers, EVERYONE! He's been a real dick during this whole pandemic, but in this case, I understand why he's being a dick.

What I don't understand is why can't you test all players on Thursday afternoon, have the results back by Friday morning. All players that had a negative test from both teams quarantine all day Friday and play the game on Saturday. If all participants have a negative test and are quarantined after that, who and how will anyone get sick? I know there are false test readings, but there is a way to limit the exposure for the players and staffs.
