unlikely top 3 this year. Mizzou should have the 3rd place spot pretty well locked up.

Monroe
Missouri
Chattanooga
at South Carolina
Florida
LSU
at Georgia
- bye -
at Mississippi State
Tennessee
at Vanderbilt
New Mexico State
at Louisville

wins - Monroe, Chattanooga, at Vanderbilt, NMSU

favored - at USC, at Louisville

underdogs - the others

Stoops' teams historically take a couple of weeks to work out kinks. I suspect UK drops the Missouri game and wins ugly at Carolina.

then next 3 will decide if UK is gonna be a serious threat in the East. inclined to think QB position isn't up to the task. Wilson is gone but the issues to get the ball downfield through the air likely remain. one-dimensional run game won't be enough.

MSU game is hard to gauge - Leach is terribly inconsistent with his teams.

Kentucky thumped Tennessee in Knox when nobody expected it last year. Stoops is poised to tag UTK with 5 straight losses like he did USC.

UK should beat a Louisville program that's nowhere near as good along the LOS at the Cats.

8-4 (4-4) - likely 4th in the East behind UGA, UF, MO in 2021. 9 win season after the bowl game.

the O-line will be solid to excellent, the receivers a huge upgrade, now who steps up at QB?

Aren't you guys losing three veteran starters?

I was a little disappointed in the OL last year...thought it was gonna be one of the better in the conference.

We do but they're pretty deep. Some of our highest graded talent the last few years has been on the OL.

In Kentucky's? They were one of the best in the conference. They were Joe Moore Semifinalists along with Bama and A&M.

Yes.

I was unimpressed watching them against UGA and UF.

????

Did you watch those games? Sorry, less than impressed.

Was I supposed to be?

ETA there was preseason talk about Young perhaps being a 1st rounder...which obviously isn't the case now.

Yes, I did.

Because they were limited offensively (even though Rodriguez still broke 100 yards) against Georgia in Gatewood's first start? And Rodriguez was completely out against Florida. He was pretty much our whole offense under Gran's playcalling.

That has a whole lot of nothing to do with the offensive line.

Thanks for a reasoned and well-framed response. This is what I was looking for. I know the Cats still have a lot to figure out, especially on the offensive side of the ball, but the future is certainly bright.

I think this is right, but would also say that most teams benefit from a tune-up or two. As to Mizzou, well... not sure I get the Drink hype just yet, we played our worst game against them last year, and that was because our kids knew Coach Schlar was at death's door. Carolina at their house is always a tough out. I think Beamer could be a good hire, but not sure how long it'll take to recover from the Muschamp years. I'd prolly be OK with 8-4 as long as the Cats aren't losing by 2 TDs or more. When teams with defensive speed and talent could stack 8-9 in the box, we didn't have much of shot last year.

You’ve got what looks to be a very improved LSU and @MSU on your plate. I think your West schedule will put you with a game to catchup against Mizzou, Georgia and Florida.

I don’t think anyone is touching Georgia this year unless they stumble big time.

Last time both Florida and Georgia stumbled and/or had key injuries gave way to Missouri to win the east twice!

I expect us to finish 2nd or 3rd. We still don't know how we'll look with Coen's offense. I'm pretty optimistic about the season for sure. But we do have question marks and Ive got to expect Georgia wins the East until shown otherwise. There's no doubt we're trending in the right direction.
