Allowing transfers is just the new normal. Your take is just fricking terrible.

Because the proven best strategy to combat an accusation of racism is to loudly yell "NUH UH!"

UGA objected to the grounds on which the appeal for the waiver was made in a non-public, professional way and then agreed to let the kid transfer because what possible positive outcome would there have been to simply fight it out of spite?

Keep fishing.

From Field's own mouth

quote:

I have no regrets about my time at UGA and have no hard feelings for the school or football program. My overall experience at UGA was fully consistent with UGA’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. My sister is a softball player at UGA. I am still close friends with many of my UGA teammates.

They’re racist for not starting Fields the moment he arrived on campus.

So, why would he claim otherwise to the NCAA ? That should have shot down his appeal immediately. Maybe his statement has something to do with his sister and his family in GA ?

It's a PR nightmare these days and NO school would fight it especially after Saban was raked over coals by the Maurice Smith fiasco.

Auburn is the most racist Big 6 based on enrollment demographics.

No dumbass, the NCAA shut the door on transfers being immediately eligible for compassionate reasons, and most of those were legit. This is fear by both parties (NCAA, UGA).

cajun, get that ankle monitor off yet ? If so, they need to send out a message for travelers on I-10 who stop to piss at rest areas.

Because this was never a racism issue to begin with. Fields was already disgruntled due to lack of PT and when the Sasser incident happened, Mars reached out to Fields and his family to say if y'all are thinking about transferring, I think I have a way to get you eligible for 2019 somewhere else but we have to act immediately after the season. Racism was just a means to the end of fixing a problem of Fields own creation.

Someone close to Fields camp then leaked what they were planning after the SECCG out of spite for Kirby and UGA, starting this whole public shitstorm. If I had to guess, Fields and his family never would have wanted this as out in the open as it has been precisely because they are still a family living in Georgia with a daughter attending UGA. Can't imagine things are very comfortable right now.

WTF, racism wasn't an issue, but it was the reason it was granted ? OK

It was granted because UGA didn't oppose the waiver and, per the letter of the NCAA bylaws, a student can make grounds for an appeal if a student at their previous institution made them uncomfortable. All an athlete needs to make a successful appeal for a waiver with the NCAA nowadays is 1. No objections from their previous institution (very few schools would open up to the PR hit nowadays so this is almost always a given) and 2. grounds for an appeal per NCAA rules. That's it. Hence, the bigger question moving forward will be if Tate Martell gets a waiver on the grounds that Urban Meyer left. If that becomes a recognized grounds for appeal, free agency is officially on.

If this were truly a racism issue, Fields would have left the team after Sasser's comments were made public and not stuck around through Sugar Bowl practices.

Again, keep fishing.

When did this happen.

What exactly do you think is gonna happen with Tate Martell?

I can promise you the NCAA is going to rule him eligible for "emotional reasons" ie Urban leaving.

Its not really an opinion, more of a fact. Would you want your professor drooling on your notebook while just trying to get through calculus? I doubt it

Is UGA admitting they are a racist school by not fighting Fields immediate eligibility ? Timing wasn’t right to fight it, but it does leave a stain that will be talked about.

Or maybe he was talking about his experience at UGA and being 100% honest.

Do you remotely think this is some type of "gotcha" for
UGA?

Do you really think you're making a coherent or legitimate point?

Every Southern Institution will have that issue brought against them. If there is a Confederate Monument within 50 miles, they can make that claim. Remember Southern Schools a members of the NCAA.

Tate Martell is not going be granted that waiver, especially since it came out he was going to try this earlier after UM suspension.

Not over its guilt, but solid proof of their being pussies, even when they think they are correct.
