Georgia athletic director Greg McGarity is retiring, we can confirm, as reported earlier by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. More details to come, including potential candidates.

More proof that there is a God. Don't let the door hit you on the arse on the way out, Howdy Doody! Georgia as a program will be a lot better off come 1/1/2021.

And before anyone says it, McGarity had NOTHING to do w/hiring Kirby. He wanted Mullen and wanted to keep micromanaging the football program to the point where he almost drove Kirby to S.Carolina and the most influential boosters(Billy Payne, Khan, etc) told him to either shite or get off the pot and let the door close behind you. He has had no business running a major program, let alone an SEC program. He is a terrible AD.

McGarity was close to bringing a championship to Athens.
0% chance Justin Fields leaves Dan Mullen

What’s the issue here? Mullen’s a better coach. Seems like a smart man.

L.O.L.

McGarity has been terrible. Thank God that he has been neutered in terms of having his hands on the football program since Kirby came. He's a cheap bastard.

It wasn't just him wanting Mullen and the big-time boosters telling him ," that's cute, go sit over there", he was a micromanaging, cheap SOB who didn't want to spend what was necessary to make the football program the best it could be. He also wanted to hire all of Kirby's staff like he forced Richt to do. Plus, Tom Crean aside, his hires have left a lot to be desired.

All McGarity did was give Kirby the biggest recruiting budget in the SEC. But, yeah, he didn't give Kirby the necessary resources.

Moorehead gave Kirby the biggest recruiting budget in the SEC.

McGarity had Mark Richt paying assistant coaches out of his own pocket (an ncaa violation).

You dont see the difference?
