Winning the natty actually helps take away the sting that is never really getting to see Pickens dominate more than a couple games in college. I love that kid.
Interesting take. Obviously as an Auburn fan I hate Pickens but he's proven to be kind of a moron and knucklehead repeatedly. What would make one single out Pickens as a player to "love".
Also, why would Burton leave? He going to play for Riley?

He's for sure 1st round talent, but you know how easily spooked NFL guys get with players coming off injuries and then of course his character concerns, too.
I can see him taking a tumble on draft day. I also selfishly want another full season with that crazy motherfricker, so that is weighing on my take as well.
Either way he's going to crush his next move and I'm glad we got to see him back on the field while winning it all

Exactly. 2-3 of these rumored to be headed to the Portal, and Gilbert may or may not ever come back. I think he won't...

the same reason there's a long line of morons that AU fans deify; because he's really good.

I believe he took a piece of humble pie and got better with his issues, but I really don't know for sure. I haven't gone out of my way to research it but it seems like that's the case at face value.

I think it's the lovable knucklehead persona. You hate him if he's playing you, but love him when he's on your team type of guy.
He does stupid shite, but you can tell he's a good guy at heart. I'll also always love him for skull dragging that Tech player into the wall like a damn WWE match.

Really? I mean, he squirt water on an opposing QB in a game and he got in a fight with a GT player that the GT player clearly started.
What else? Neither of those are what I would call egregious. Auburn fans loved a WR (Williams) that was starting fights with teammates and causing problems....serious problems. Had to be a cancer in the clubhouse. Nix sulked when things didn't go his way and after leaving we heard he was a cancer....but you guys sang his praises until he left.
Why is squirting water so egregious?

Gilbert is back on campus and in class. Long way to go but multiple folks (including some beat writers who are close to him) have said he is back and working toward playing this Fall

How about the QB room?
Rumors that 2-3 might leave. But Vandgriff, Stockton, Beck, Daniels and maybe Bennett?
We could lose 2-3 of those...or maybe they stay? Who knows? But we should be okay. If we lose 2-3 we pull someone from the portal, I would guess. I don't see it being a weakness, but time will determine if it is improved or worse than this season.

I don't recall it that way. I thought he had talent but his attitude was awful at times. For every play he made, I can recall him checking out on other plays. Still I think he got a lot of slack because he was the best we had.
The water thing is not egregious, but it does show some immaturity on the big stage, correct?
I doubt the times he looked immature hurt him too much for NFL purposes.

When he was on, he was an animal. but many Auburn fans loved him, or at least tolerated him. Savage seemed shocked we would like Pickens. As good as Williams was (and I thought he was a great WR) I think Pickens is better.
quote:he did it in a meaningless game....but yes. It was definitely an immature action. We got a penalty and he got chewed out and (I'm sure) some punishment.

I will say this. I have seen times when Kirby Smart pulled him over during a game and absolutely chewed him out. He stood there the whole time looking directly at Kirby and nodded his head. I never saw him walk away or act like any criticism was not justified.
I mean...I get it. I understand why Auburn fans would not care for him. But I think his squirting water on another player is not horrific.
I have to admit, I was aggravated by it. Poor sportsmanship and he should have been punished. It was immature. But that was 2 years ago and have not heard nor seen anything like that since.
BTW, no problem with what Randy said so much as his reasoning. Pickens has not (as far as I have heard) been a problem. If his worst offense is squirting water on an opponent, it is something I can live with.

Somewhere in there I my have attributed it to Seth Williams. My apologies to Auburn fans and to Seth Williams if so. Te receiver I was referring to was Duke Williams.
Again my apologies for not getting it right.

Receiver is the one position where we can't actually offer much play time. That and QB.
We need bodies and talent almost everywhere else.

Williams was heavily criticized on this forum by Auburn fans and by pretty much all Auburn people I talked to. I think pretty much all of us recognized his talent but acknowledged he was pretty lazy and probably not a great teammate.
Most UGA fans I know have expressed some amount of displeasure with George whether it be his lack of production compared to talent and/or some of his clown antics. Even if you think those things aren't a big deal, and maybe they aren't, I've still never really seen or heard anyone say something like "I love that kid". Not that any of it matters I was just curious where he was coming from with that.

Thought it was rumored O is hitting the portal - which will be a travesty.

I guess you haven’t see our wide receiver and tight end class.
And Aggie’s recruiting legally is more impressive than Georgia recruiting illegally.
Please don’t act like Georgia hasn’t been paying players all these years.
