University of Florida eliminates all DEI positions due to new state rules
The University of Florida has eliminated all diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) positions at the university, according to an administrative memo that was released Friday.
The memo cites a recent state ban on the use of public funds for diversity, equity and inclusion programs, activities and policies -- as well as activities for "political or social activism" -- in the public college system. The Florida Board of Governors passed this restriction in January, shortly after the Florida Board of Education passed a similar ban.
The University of Florida has closed the Office of the Chief Diversity Officer, "eliminated DEI positions and administrative appointments, and halted DEI-focused contracts with outside vendors," the memo states.

Wrong board. Do not support this political issue on the board.

Alright, I'll bite. Big waste of time that is more about soundbites and tweet views that also mostly just plays to terminally online weirdos. "DEI" will just get repackaged some other way. You can't take the social liberalism out of essentially liberal institutions. There is no use trying. About of a third of the research and outreach at a school will be DEI or whatever it is called this week. About another third will be opportunists looking to whip up studies that say whatever someone in power needs to justify a thing they already decided they want to do. Another third will actually be substantive scientific research.

They did it because the governor forced their hand due to funding restrictions. I’m glad they did it, but at the same time they were somewhat forced to. Don’t crow too much about their leadership.

The people who post about it on here would infect the board with it to the point you'd have to find a new board to talk football. Seen it happen over and over again. If it goes unchecked at some point that's what it will be here.

Political issues impact every person and every board. Many are more sensitive to it in light of historic levels of immigration and the extreme inflation we have seen the last three years. It is understandable that they sometimes bleed over.

Geaux Florida. Love it!

(I'm an LSU Grad and Louisiana native, but the State of Louisiana is not a decent place to live when "Quality of Life" is considered)

All the Neanderthal's that "Love It" are part of the problem and why LA is ranked 47-50 in every National "Social, Economic, Educational, Environmental and Quality of Life" Ranking.

We love living in Florida.

We can sneak back to Baton Rouge for a day to see an LSU game, then back to NOLA for the food, then gtfo and back to civilization.......

The dawgvent that's now the chat is one. There's a KState board I used to visit that ended up that way and is now just completely dead of any discussion. And several boards that were sports boards started by newspapers, but never really moderated that ended up that way. I will say this, the ones that I have been on that were still operating strong when I left were heavy handed in not allowing it. 0 tolerance. I don't know that I've seen one (not saying there isn't one) that allowed it that didn't go to crap. Either became almost completely political or just went dead. And those were at times far less divisive than what we have today.

Its free if you follow these easy steps…

1. Fly to Tijuana
2. Spend a week there, work on your tan and learn some or brush up on Spanish.
“No speka da engla” is sufficient.
3. Burn all of your ID’s
4. Walk across the US/Mexico border at Eagle Pass
5. Say high to Joe.
6. Get handed 10k of US dollars and No-Limit Credit Card. Pick out your cell phone.
7. Get voter registration and Lifetime membership to the Democrat party
8. Get drivers license to any state desired.
9. Get “out of jail/prison/court card” in case caught stealing, assault, or murder of any US Born citizen
10.Agree to be present when they hear your refugee case in 2045
11.Get bussed to a NY City Luxury Hotel for 2 years. Meal plan and 10k cash a month included.
12. Get free tuition to any University or College of your choice. West Point is only a few miles away.
13. And of course in order to keep this about football and not politics, get lifetime membership into Cal/Berkley Football Boosters Club with game seats included.

This country has far surpassed needing DEI to make sure minorities get equal treatment. That was proven when they elected Obama. If anything white are being most discriminated against at this point.

You tried to get your point across and now that you see most don't agree with you want the discussion to go away.

I'm not sure we can give them credit for being forced to do the right thing by the state government.
