Next we're going to find out it was Scott Woodward who masterminded this whole thing.

Good. The SEC shouldn’t pass on a good opportunity because A&M is scared of Texas.

Yeah but keeping them in the dark about it is wrong. It's not how you build healthy business relationships, much less a stable athletic conference. It's just slimy.

There's no doubt that if OU and Texas join, it's to a much less stable conference to where we were a week ago.

Well......judging by how they are acting right now, it is no wonder they were left in the dark. They leaked the news the minute they found out and are already working behind the scenes colluding with state politicians loyal to TTU, TCU, and Baylor to block it. The only way this was going to happen was to keep it quiet so the details could be worked out before the state politicians had time to kill it.

The votes were there, with or without aTm's approval, so the only reason to give them advance notice would be out of respect and trust that aTm wouldn't leak it for the good of the conference. Obviously the SEC could not trust aTm.

You're inverting the cause and effect here. They leaked it because they were left out of the conversations, not the other way around. That's a very big distinction.

If this is true.. and it probably is true.. it is for one simple reason. If A&M was involved in the discussion, they would have leaked it the first chance they got.. and then it is that much harder to make it work.

I’m not sure if that is right or wrong.. but it is true, as evidenced by the leak this week.

everyone in the world knows that ATM would do everything their power to scuttle the deal if they were brought in on the front end. I’ll give it to sankey, if this is all accurate, he swung the nuts of the SEC around pretty hard and knew ATM wasn’t in a position to do much about it.

But if he had the votes, he wouldn't need do that anyway. They could cry all they wanted and it wouldn't have mattered.

Because of exactly what has happened the last 48 hours. As soon as they found out, they leaked it. So Sankey and the SEC were right in not telling them.

There’s a lot of external factors here outside of the votes needed. Contracts, state laws, etc. More time to find some way to stop it.

It was the right move.
