Two SEC schools with high powered fast paced Offensive minded

head coaches have fired their DC for their football woes this year. Is it the offensive philosophy that is flawed or is it a true deficiency with the DC?
Wasn't the Auburn DC being praised just last year for working wonders with that unit?

Lack of talent/depth and a decline in offsensive efficiency/production, in TAMU's case.

He did pretty good with it last year, but it wasn't enough to put Auburn over the top (though that may be unfair as Auburn was plenty good enough to win the title).
This year, with a few injuries and Auburn playing at a slower pace, the defense was worse. It's a particular challenge to field a high end defense and allow Gus to do what he wants to do on offense. Something probably has to give a little, but not to the extent we saw this year.
Long story short, Ellis is not the guy to do that.

Aub not on my brain you arse wipe. It is breaking news that you guys fired you DC. It is a legit question don't you think. It would be a boring day on the SEC rant if we only talked about our teams. I do that on the bama page. mooooooooooooooron

Incorrect.

Any team that runs the HUNH is going to struggle on D. You can't keep a defense on the field for 35+ minutes a game and expect them to be dominant.

If teams weren't scoring all over us in the first quarter and even first few drives of games, then I'd tend to lean more towards the offensive philosophy.
The truth is that we didn't go that fast this year and the defense got worse as the year went on. Johnson wasn't getting it done.
