True or False? SEC needs Notre Dame to have multiple losses to get two teams in

Does a 1 loss Notre Dame team outweigh the SEC brand when it comes to the committee? I know the obvious in who would have played the tougher schedule, but I mean more along the "8-4 ND gets a BCS Bowl" line of thinking. They would most likely have only lost to FSU. Just bored and looking for thoughts.

False. There are 4 spots. Other teams could lose.

Sadly, you are on to something. ND always has to prove they don't belong instead of other way around.

They lose this weekend for sure. They are a paper tiger, like a couple of years ago.

False. If ND gets their asses spanked by FSU in a blowout loss or if they lose to a team they have no business losing to, such as Louisville, they'll be out of it. If it's a close game against FSU they may sneak back in.

I think so, FSU will be there and then that means prolly Baylor will take the other one, and the winner of either MSST and Ole Miss or Auburn Alabama. Its quite possible if ND loses two. If they don't, We'd need help from either Baylor or Michigan state/Oregon

I think the only SEC team that would trump them would be Bama...provided Ole Miss won out and so did Bama.

Well, Idk about that. Auburn is just as good as anybody, and Bama has been absolutely awful the past few games against weak teams.(Arkansas)I believe the iron bowl will definitely be a good one to watch, but If I bet money, I'd say Auburn's defense gets them in.

Auburn has new money, but Notre Dame is a national draw just like Bama. And now that it is a committee choosing that doesn't have to take in SOS, you never know. I'm just looking at it as a 1 loss ND vs. a 1 loss Bama/AU/MSU/OM on who would get the final spot.

I know we are quickly reminded of 2012 ND, but this year is different. ND schedule is no joke and very easily comparable to SEC schedules as they do not play any cupcakes only power 5 teams. If they are at 1 loss they will and should in fact play ahead of any 2 loss SEC team and possibly a second 1 loss SEC team, we must see how the two compare.

SEC will not get 2 teams in

Notre Dame losing twice just means another non SEC school gets a shot

At this point in time, a 2 loss Notre Dame probably helps Baylor the most.

I'll be very surprised if the SEC has two teams reach the playoff. I'm not saying it can't happen or won't happen. I just don't think it will happen, even though I know Gus and others are making a case for it. They do have a point as the four best teams should be chosen. Remember that all major conferences have substantial influence with the committee.

I'd like to see a much more expanded playoff because it's not really much of a playoff as it is.

What is Notre Dame's bowl record over the past 20 years?

4-11

Most over-rated football program in history.

I wouldn't worry about ND. We (a very mediocre UNC team) put 510 yards of offense on their defense on their home field. They needed a bs blocking the snapper call to put us away. They would lose by 3 tds against a good SEC west team.

If FSU plays well, they win.

They will bend over backwards to get Notre Dame in.

So a one-loss Notre Dame would indeed get in over a second SEC team with just one loss.
