Losing a whole bunch of 3- and 4-stars who never played will count against a team when they shouldn't.

But those same 3 and 4 stars will get counted positively when they sign with different teams.

Because transferring out categorically defines a player as mediocre? If all the players transferring out are mediocre, how do they become good when signed by another team? It’s zero-sum, Einstein.

This guy gets it.

What if you add 15 mediocre players and lost 30 good ones?

Which programs are picking them up?

It really doesn’t matter. Just like with energy and mass, the amount of talent in the system doesn’t change.

As a whole, how can you say the additions matter but the subtractions don’t?

The guys we lost mostly wouldn’t see the field.

Like Xavier Atkins? 3 Star who barely played as freshman at LSU, now All-American his Sophomore year at Auburn.

They do, the problem is they still haven’t figured out how to accurately assess transfers.

We should be ranked 1 considering all of the “amazing players” that left from our 2-10 team.

Why do you all put so much stock in these rankings? I don't recall any trophies for recruiting.

Honestly the portal gives a lot of false hope for mediocre teams. We all know LSU will go sub 500 in the SEC next year just as they did this year, but the portal makes dumbass fans think otherwise. Probably good for revenue tbh, that is until reality sets in midseason that the team is still trash

What are the * ratings they use? Are those their original rating out of high school? If so - not sure I'd pay attention to that so much. I guess if they weren't playing that's all you have to go on... except for the fact that they weren't playing! Do any rankings use any type of actual production numbers or stats?

One thing in On3 rankings I find interesting is the NIL value impact. If I understand this correctly - teams like Auburn/Bama/Tenn/Mizzou have a lot of NIL freed up by those exiting, and have yet to spend that on signing new players. I guess those teams still have the resources to put to what they need.

That’s why you give more weight in the rankings to good players.

They get new rankings when they transfer.

They do count - they even factor what you’re losing to graduation & the draft
