For the TideFans thread: Yes, I used the 2012 parameter due to it being the year of the most recent expansion.
So, we took a look at SEC Offenses since 2012 and where they ranked nationally. Now lets dive into the side of the ball that separates the men from the boys in the SEC, defense.

I don't know why I was so surprised by that one. The only team ahead of UGA is Michigan.

Bottom line ... defense wins championships. DOH! ( 8(|)

Auburn threw more TD passes to the UGA secondary than its own receivers over the next 3 games in the series.

Air traffic controllers needed some time off that day

Playing in the SEC East from 2012-2017 has really allowed us to not face many vaunted passing attacks.

How the hell did A&M win 8+ games with that defense?

The 3 worst defenses in Tennessee history all occurred within the last 6 seasons.
The last decade has been rough, but watching our defense, specifically the last 2 seasons, has tested the strength of my fandom.

To be honest, considering some of the horrible defenses Auburn had from 2010 to 2015 (prior to Kevin Steele's arrival), I'm surprised Auburn is this high.

That and Auburn's awful 2012 season is probably why he picked 2012 as the start point. 6 years is a random timeframe.

2012 is SEC expansion you dolt.

Interesting stuff. From what I've noticed, SEC play requires a good rushing offense and a good defense. For example, Florida has a great defense, but only 7.5 wins, their rushing offense was ranked 12th.
Georgia, 10 wins. 4th ranked rushing offense, 4th ranked defense.
LSU, 9 wins. 3rd ranked rushing offense, 3rd ranked defense.
Alabama, 2nd ranked rushing offense, 1st ranked defense.

I get it was teh expansion timetable, but putting LSU's 2011 would really help our rankings I think
(and Bama's)
Two greatest defenses I've ever seen.

Which is why Orgeron is moving to the high tempo spread with undersized, average running backs.

Well, UGa does play GaTech and Vandy every year. And UF's QB situation has been even more traffic than LSU's during the period in question.
