Shop that list around when you can afford to hire a new coach in 3 years.

A $12 million buyout for the consummate "just glad to be here" guy.

Top job in the SEC is UF. Money, recruiting , location , recruiting and money, academics, and recruiting and money.

#2 could be A&M, if they ever stumble upon a top tier coach...

No worries there bro, we will probably hire Ed O when LSU clips him.

Looking at your variables, I'm not convinced Bama is the automatic number 1 job, as characterized by previous posters.
Saban is a freak; that's a given.
But once he's gone ....

Alabama
Money - Not the wealthiest
Recruiting - Depends on the coach
Location - Not especially attractive
Academics - Average

It's a good job; I'd never argue otherwise.
But the default #1?

LSU made the worst head coaching hire in recent years.

I think some of the 'money' considerations are weighted too heavily. Once you're at a certain point as a program, extra money has diminishing returns. Most top programs are willing to spend the same amount of cash for facilities, coaches, etc.,

Having an extra $20MM in the back-pocket compared to other programs doesn't result in any extra competitive advantage, at least as far as I can see.

I don't disagree; your point is valid.
There's a "saturation point," so to speak.

lol. uf would be at least 3rd. given all the bs that goes on around the lsu program it might be 5th at best.

i still believe that all the ticky tack horseshite that goes on with louisiana politics and lsu is the reason saban wanted the hell outta dodge. i think he relishes sticking it to lsu every year.
