Hearing the Giants are having to pay a pretty large payout to UT to buy out the last 4 years of his 2024 5 year extension.

Preach brother.

The Braves are one of the best-run organizations in sports.

Obviously Smokey was asleep for the entire decade of the 90's. The Braves were in every NLCS that decade(except for 94 of course) and again in 2001.

Like to the Bay Area that has an extreme amount of liberals and you have to be extra PC about everything?

Did either party do their homework here?

MLB players and managers are hardly liberal by majority by any sense of the imagination and have existed without issue in SF for a while. You just don't bring up politics

I heard Tony V’s buyout was only $3 million.

Brian O’Connor enters the SEC, Vitello leaves Tennessee. He ran scared. Who’s next? Jay Johnson?

Rough few days for the Vols. Here’s something to get the spirits of Vol fans back up:

Imagine his top assistant will take over .... No need in screwing with the program mid off-season.

Absolutely wild that he’s the first coach hired by an mlb team straight from college coaching with no previous mlb experience.

There’s been a sense—correct, I think—that mlb manager is a very different skillset from college baseball coach. The Giants are willing to roll the dice on a high energy guy.

mlb is a long season. Lot of travel. It’s a grind. But the opportunity to manage and work with players at the highest level—and win it all with them—would tempt anyone that loves the game.

The only way we can truly enjoy this is if TN goes after and hires JJ from LSU. This would supersede any entertainment that this CFB season could provide

The only thing JJ is about to do is snag the best players on the Tenner roster.

Good for him but he will be back in college in 3 years

It's almost like a vacation for him (almost). If he sucks after just one year, he'll get canned and get paid and be hired immediately by a college team. He gets to determine if he can be a successful manager at the pro level and doesn't have to worry as much with roster movement/money (presumably, not sure). Can't fault him for taking a pay cut for a bit and trying it out.
