It's all just a means to an end for Kiff. He's going to use every job until he gets back to a "blue blood" program like USC or Alabama.

He probably thinks he can go to Tennessee for 5-7 yrs and then get the Bama job when Saban retires.

Kiff also probably wants out of the West, especially if Georgia is going to be under investigation b/c of all of this.

He is a changed man.....maybe he has found a higher calling and wants to make amends and clear his conscience (before he is murdered by a jealous husband)

I'm just going to drop this here and watch the board explode:

Tennessee isn't a better job than Ole Miss.

Tennessee is a better job than almost every team in the west not named Alabama and LSU.

Being in the east is the real driving factor behind this, but the whole place seems like just a mini version of Texas from a program standpoint and it's internal toxicity.

Tennessee is basically the 5th best job in the SEC, behind Georgia, LSU, Bama, and Florida, but having to overcome the program itself slots it much further down the list.

Nobody but Black Bear fans would hold it against him to leave Ole Miss for Tennessee after a year. Tennessee is a much better job even with the incoming sanctions.

I doubt it's true, but let's assume it is.

There's not a much better way to ensure your program stays at Sun Belt level than firing a coach for NCAA violations and immediately hiring a coach that left Knoxville just before the NCAA could bring down the hammer.

So within a 3 week period Kiffin has reached out to Auburn and Tennessee about their jobs?

Yes and he got a nice raise out of it.

If half of the east is on sanctions, the whole side of the bracket is wide open. Tennessee becomes much more desirable.

Tennessee is NOT a better job than A&M. Not even close. A&M has better facilities, better recruiting grounds, a better fanbase, and way more funding.

Yes, Kiffin will go rebuild TN from scratch with pending NCAA hammer instead of taking the best returning QB in the league next year with a stacked offense. Makes perfect sense for a guy looking to make it to a top tier job in the next few year.

Kiffin used Auburn for leverage in negotiating a raise with Ole Miss but was never a serious candidate there.

Maybe after 2021 but with Tennessee having no AD and no idea what the sanctions are gonna be, I think it’s Kevin Steele for this year.

If Lane bolts, Ole Miss would probably just promote Jeff Lebby to HC. That would be the best move by far than trying to change regimes completely again.

Either that or bring in Art Briles.

Lane Kiffin may be a lot of things, but stupid isn't one of them.
