Todd McShay was more or less lambasted for saying that Jaylen Carter had some character issues which would harm him in the NFL draft and from the looks of things he wasn't wrong. If the allegations against Carter are true and he hasn't disclosed that to the NFL his character is certainly in question. Won't mean he isnt drafted but will mean a lot less money most likely.

People try to meme the character concerns angle but Derrius Guice taught me there is always fire under the smoke for these things.

Dumbass college kid halfway through his jr academic year was involved on the periphery of a fatal crash and you think the nfl is going to bat an eyelash about that?

His charges are misdemeanor btw. NFL DGAF.

Youthful foolishness is not an excuse to be street racing and weaving in and out of traffic at over 100 mph like a piece of shite.

It's not an excuse for getting in fights; hazing pledges by making them get blind drunk; riding a motorcycle or jumping from the second floor balcony into the pool, but it happens.

It wasn't an excuse for my driving fast in high school on the windy roads in Birmingham, but I did it because I was young and dumb. I nearly killed myself and friends doing it a couple of times and thank God for His grace that I didn't. However, on no instance did I plan to hurt anyone.

The guy made a terrible mistake and will pay a very high cost, but let's drop the sanctimoniousness. We are all blessed beyond measure that it's not us paying a similar or worse price.

Yeah I get you're trying to be snarky/troll, but until there are charges filed against Brandon Miller theres no similarity here at all

An NFL GM would be a fool to let a top 5 pick slip to another team that would willingly snag him. If he's going to get drafted then a team better get him while they can and let character concerns iron themselves out later.

I, too, have character issues.

When I got my first sports car, I wanted to see how fast it would go and got a ticket going 110.

Yeah. I'm sure the dude went out with the intention to kill people. Young man committed a crime punishable by up to 1 year in jail.

Youre correct the NFL don't care but the team that takes him in the draft will use it as leverage in contract negotiations at a minimum. They'd be fools not to.

Not snarky at all...Miller ain't guilty of anything other than being involved, however far on the fringes as he is, in a bad look for UA. If NBA execs don't use that as leverage in contract negotiations they are idiots. You wouldn't if you weren't an Alabama fan and were a GM for a team trying to sign him to a contract?

I seriously doubt if he slips in the draft...but I also seriously doubt that once drafted whatever team drafts him will use this information as leverage to pay less money.

There is also the matter of endorsements. It could cost him a heaping pile of money in endorsement deals.

Yeah, that's not going to work when they spend a lottery pick to draft him.

These days he could tell them to pound sand and return to school for a year with a decent NIL deal and leave them empty handed. Which I am completely fine with.

It’s a measure of risk relative to the draft slot.

That being said, you don’t wanna be the GM that hurt your team by drafting a guy at #3 for example, and he ends up in jail. While you could’ve drafted the #4 pick who is an all pro and model citizen.

Hell my first car was a 1968 chevy longbed sidestep PU that belonged to the DOT for years. Straight 6 and 3 on the tree. I also wanted to see how fast it would go. Lucky for me it was about all it could do to keep up with traffic on 285! Speeding and racing is not uncommon amongst young folks. Lying to cops aint unusual for all age groups. Being involved in a high profile accident where 2 people died is unusual. Getting a ticket for what could be a felony in Georgia 4 months before that accident is unusual. Dude could have some character flaws that ain't usual....
