Shocked how quickly this was done, but I do like the hire if the plan was to go with an up-and-comer. Risky, but a ton of upside being only 36. Love his reliance on analytics. Forward thinking guy. Very different approach than CMW.

Scott Stricklin still thinks he’s at Mississippi State smh

Sadly this is true given the Napier hire and now this. We’ve really dropped in prestige since Stricklin became AD. These hires will make of break him.

Hoping they are very successful, but I can’t even be cautiously optimistic at this point.

Another FOTM Club member. SEC Programs need to hire more experienced HCs.

I’m of the mindset that if you can’t poach an elite coach, I’d rather gamble on a hardworking young guy eager to prove himself rather than a retread.

I have no idea if he’ll even be better than Mike White, but I’d rather him than Anthony Grant or Shaka Smart.

Excellent Bball program Florida hires a career assistant with 3 years experience and 1 tournament visit (zero postseason wins) and it's a great hire. "That's who I wanted!" "Best kept secret!" "Great hire!"

Bottom feeding UGA, by far the worst program in the league right now, hires a guy that has led multiple programs and has taken an SEC team to multiple NCAATourneys including an elite 8. "Awful hire!" "What a joke!" "HAha UGA is dumb!"

This is the rant in a nutshell.

This is way different than the Napier hire. Napier was a hot commodity for a couple years before we hired him. Nobody besides Auburn and San Francisco fans even knew who this guy was before today. Reminds me of the Jim Mcelwain hire. Very underwhelming from a national perspective but I’ll reserve judgment for a few years due to the fact that Mike White didn’t leave him anything from a roster standpoint.

Whatever helps you sleep at night. Mike White is trash and is a known commodity. No one has the first clue how this dude will do.

I think he’s a good coach but UF should be able to get a more established coach than this

we've been over this. If you think it's gonna take a whole lot of convincing to believe that mike white is a better fit for us than tom crean was, you're not even worth responding to.

Nobody is expecting white to take us to an elite 8 anytime soon, or ever honestly. We are expecting him to recruit better and make us competitive again and be around or maybe even above the mid-point of the league yearly. Oh my goodness gracious I can't believe how ridiculous our expectations are!!!!

Idiot

Seriously? You're dogging another team's basketball coach?
How about some self awareness?

Two things , one, tiger rant has been on this guy ever since wade was fired. search his name and look at the dates if you want to , it’s true, not that it matters. We thought he may ne a guy we could pull with what’s going on at the moment. I guess Florida not being in the tournament helped y’all.

We have no idea if Scott Woodward has met with anyone or not.

The other thing is something that you won’t want to hear , but the guy y’all just hired is about as close to a will wade style coach that you will ever find. Minus the bullshite that he got caught doing.
He’s almost as big on analytics as wade is, maybe just as much , I doubt it’s possible to be more into it than the two are . He’s an energetic guy that relates well to the players and is a young guy like wade.

Now that you can do the nil thing, these type guys are the ones you want

I like it. I would have been happy had he ended up at Mizzou. Most hires are risky, and so is this one but I think he’ll do well

Golden is smart as frick and can coach. He's all in on analytics like Mussleman and Oats. I think he'll make a final 4 with UF within a few years. He was by far my favorite mid-major coach this year.
