Ohio St and Indiana are legit. Ohio St would likely go undefeated in the SEC this year. Indiana might get a loss or two just not being used to having to show up every week. Oregon is more of an SEC higher level team this year. They would have entertaining games almost week in and week out in the SEC. The rest of that league is just an unentertaining shite show. Your "bad" teams in the SEC can entertain you and put up fights which is what the SEC haters will never understand. Its what makes the league great. NIL just has killed the SEC's beast that can make it through the constant gauntlet due to having loads of talent in the 2 and 3 deeps. The Bama's and UGA's no longer get to bludgeon the other SEC teams with depth in the trenches and defense to blow people out constantly. Half the big ten you do not need that depth to kill those teams. They are that bad.

Good for you. That had to be a great game to see. I was there in 2014 when a third string QB beat Alabama. Best game ever

Based off this thread, if the SEC wins the Natty it’s because iron sharpens iron. If they lose it’s because they are tired from playing so many intense games.
I just wonder at what point it will take certain fans to realize football is played country these days. I guess if the BIG ones a 3rd in a row some of you can claim it since they will have players on their roster form Florida, Georgia, and Texas.
No one cares about this subject anymore because we have a playoff. We will all watch the games. So all the whining won’t help if a 2 loss ND beats a SEC team like we saw 11 months ago. I give UGA fans credit this year because they actually get the new system after getting screwed 2 years and then losing last year. If any team can dethrone OSU it’s UGA because they are getting better. Sure, the scores aren’t lopsided but they don’t need to be to win in a series of playoff games.

I think OSU is clearly the best team in the country. I think IU looks really good but I still can't fathom them being good in football. They surprised me beating Oregon. A month ago I thought Miami was clearly number 2 and TT was going to be a problem for many teams. The SEC looks down again but still has 3-4 legit teams that can beat anyone. As for ND I really wish the BIG and SEC would stop scheduling games with them and force them to join a conference which we all know should be the BIG but will end up being the ACC.

There is a lot of emotional investment in the mythology of the SEC.
I have pointed out a few times how the Big 10 boat raced most of the SEC in Bowl games last year.
OSU crushed Tennessee and physically handled Texas.
We lost to USC
Michigan beat Bama
Illinois beat South Carolina
And it was all written off as meaningless bowl games that players did not care about.
It just is what it is.

Ohio St has looked like the best team in the country but I don't think they're so good that you can say they're going to cruise through the playoffs unchallenged. Too much talent has filtered down to the rest of the conference for that to happen.
Regarding the SEC, I don't the SEC is "down"as much as I think this is the SEC going forward. There's not going to be anymore "Alabama's" of the SEC who are just head and shoulders better than the rest of the conference and breeze through the regular season. Ohio St maybe so much better than the rest of their conference that they'll do that in the Big 10. But it's not happening in the SEC anytime soon.

Let me be clear. The SEC still has the most talent. I just think playing each other makes it appear we are down and not as dominant. Other than OSU no team in the BIG impresses me. I really think the sec doesn't have many off weeks in conference play as the BIG does and that matters a lot over the course of a season. OSU would not go undefeated with sec schedule.

The SEC has several teams that can give anyone a good ball game.

Based on weekly blowouts, sure. But OSU beat Texas, A very middling team week one, and hasn't played another ranked team, and doesn't have one left unless Michigan manages to stay in the top 25. SEC teams can't do that. Alabama is typical in that we played Georgia week 4 and later played 4 ranked teams in a row and still have ranked Oklahoma left. OSU could well be the best team in the country but there is no way to know with their soft schedule.

Not sure what we are supposed to do. We scheduled Texas, have Michigan, had pre-season #2 (can't help they fell apart) and rotated out of IU, Oregon and Iowa who we played last year. All we can do is handle what is in front of us. But giving up 6.9 pts a game through 8 games is handling what was in front of us.
Everyone talks about Texas, but we had a freshman QB who never had seen the light of day, we led with our D and ground it down. I say perfectly played.
Oh, and that freshman has turned out to be alright.

Who cares if OSU would go undefeated with an SEC schedule? You keep saying that like it means anything. In the old days of bowl matchups maybe that’s a valid argument. But today it means nothing because we have a playoff. And Ohio St (just like Texas and probably UGA) would make the playoff no matter what conference they were in.
Y’all also said Texas wouldn’t do anything in the SEC. They were in the SEC Champ game in year 1 and have 1 SEC loss this year. Texas is 11-2 since joining the SEC and these same posters said they’d be irrelevant.
No one cares about all these “what if’’s“. The playoffs are always the proving ground in every sport. That it took college football 120 years to get here is ridiculous. But we are here and now and the only thing that really matters is how Sankey and Pettiti can convince the committee to include more of their teams to sway the odds.
