In addition to the criminal charges this Herbacide Al is going to have to face, don't you also figure he'll be forced to pay for the damages he caused in some sort of civil suit?

Seems like that would make all this Bama money gravy to the barns.

I doubt Al has the means to ever pay for the tree replacement. He can't even bail himself out of jail.

Difference is Bama fans might feel responsible or guilty about this. Want to clear there name / fan base reputation by saying "hey look how much $$$ we donated, that one guy was just some rogue radical" Where as its hard for most, if any people, around here to feel guilty or at fault or like its their problem for international hunger etc.

You can respect your enemy. the problem is this recent war has gotten out of hand on both sides. I hope this good measure will help break some tensions. This is silly that a 62 year old man would do something like this. I just hope no Auburn fan is dumb enough to retaliate.

They will have large trees trucked in complete with root system.

They ought to just erect a statue of Cecil holding a bag of cash in place of the trees as a monument to their open and brash eschewing of the rules sparking some lunatic to what he thought was some apparent form of vigilantism since Emmert and Slive have no balls.

An Auburn fan suggested that they make life sized statues of the trees. That would be some huge statues.

ESPN is having an update. This was just said from a spokesman about the Toomer's Tree Hug: No one will actually Hug the Tree so please reserve those hugs for a member of the Auburn family. God bless us, everyone.

I have much respect for the classy Bama fans out there who I believe are the overwhelming majority of the fanbase. I know not many of them frequent this site, but if you run into them please send them my regards.

they need to send birth control to Africa and they need to send OB/GYN residents and GU residents there every year to tie tubes and clip testicles. Sterilization is the only way to solve the problem in Africa.

I hate to say that but it is the truth. People that are starving, have aids and no way to feed themselves yet make the decision to have a child are too stupid to be helped.

Hell, where's Cammy boy's opinion on all of this? Surely him and Nick who loved AU so dearly would care about these trees and offer to pay for them (or help) with the jumbo sized checks they'll be getting soon.

And as bad as it was, like said before: This crap is weirder by the minute. Honestly, bash me all you want, but if UA fans sent MORE $$$ to AU than it really takes to buy a new tree (or whatever the fundraiser is specifically for), then they're crazy for trusting the money will go to just that. Heck, AU's already stated they've got replacement trees lined up right?

Just weird IMO...but at least fans want to make it clear it was one man, and not the whole fan-base
