I agree. Bama would have lost to Texas last year had McCoy played.

Last years 3-4 would mangle aubs offense. To be fair aubs rush d would have kept 09 ingram and richardson in check as well. Would aub win? Maybe. Would bama win? Maybe. I think we should all agree that this would be a close low scoring game with nobody getting destroyed.

Last year's Bama team will end up
having a crap-ton more players on NFL rosters than this year's Auburn team. Here is a list of 2009 Bama players that are already on or will end up being on NFL rosters:

Javier Arenas
Mark Barron
Kareem Jackson
Rolando McClain
Marcel Dareus
Julio Jones
Colin Peek
Brandon Deadrick
Terrence Cody
Julio Jones
Courtney Upshaw
Mike Johnson
James Carpenter
Mark Ingram
Trent Richardson
William Vlachos
Marquis Maze
Barrett Jones

That's not counting major contributors who were young and will possibly make NFL rosters... Josh Chapman and Nico Johnson come to mind... And I'm sure I left a few off.

Anyone care to make a list for 2010 Auburn?

Cam Newton
Nick Fairley
Darvin Adams
Michael Dyer
Lee Ziemba

Who else is a sure bet to make an NFL roster? I'm sure there are several more, but there is NO doubt that 2009 Alabama >>>>>>> 2010 Auburn

It was such an obvious flame, yet he managed to get people to bite.

My post was more for the homer Auburn fans who think that just because of some nice offensive statistics it would result in an Auburn win. 2009 Bama was a far more talented team than this year's Auburn team. The only way that game would be remotely close is if it were played at Jordan Hare after a 100,000 seat addition to the stadium in a year like 1989.

Not saying you are wrong with the end result, but your logic is flawed or at least can be flipped.

AU is much stronger this year than they were last year, and they damn near beat Bama last year. See how that works.

FTR: My stance is it is a dumb argument and pointless to discuss. No one will ever know.

It's asinine to argue over a hypothetical game. COULD 2010 AU beat 2009 Bama? Yes. Hell, 2009 UT almost did it. Could 2009 Bama beat 2010 Auburn? Yes. A couple of teams came very close in 2010.

Finally, someone breathes a little common sense into one of these all-too-common (bad) "(Year A) x could beat (Year B) y" threads.

This is why I like you, Stanky.

Deep in their hearts, Bama fans like Flea Market Bill and HSV don't even want to ponder this question. It strikes fear in their hearts at what the future holds.

I'm assuming that, by "this question," you mean "Would 2010 Auburn beat 2009 Alabama?"

If so, then yeah. I'm pretty afraid of the total mindfrick time paradox it poses if the Large Hadron Collider goes fricking supercritical next season and warps fricking space-time to such an extent that the 2010 Auburn and 2009 Alabama teams have cause to play.

so they'd beat tOSU, but not the team tOSU beat? Interesting perspective. Lot of guys on that tOSU team playing on Sunday's.

Bama was up 24-21 on Texas with a little over 2 minutes to go in the game. Texas' freshman QB could not get it done. McCoy would have been the difference. Bama got all the breaks last year. To prove my point how many breaks did Bama get this year???

Yes, and if Colt McCoy hadn't gone down in the first quarter, 'Bama's playcalling, scheming and adjustments would have been exactly the same as they were when he went out.

You see, the problem with 'what-if' scenarios is the same as with prognostication; there are variables involved in any given situation other than just the ones you want to consider and ignoring or disregarding them doesn't make them just... go away.

Thanks for playing, though.

That thing is no damn joke. They need to get it ramped up to full speed ASAP so it can frick something up. I'm tired of waiting on that SOB to destroy all of Europe or something similar.

All kidding aside, the LHC was a stellar disappointment. All the doomsayers and bleating scientists talking about how it would rip the entire world open and what did we get?

Anticlimax.

Yeah, the LHC has been a huge let down. I am pretty pissed at it not doing something dramatic and devastating. Very dissappointing.
