You would think that, until you realize that most of the nation consider Clemson's stadium to be Death Valley. Then it's just weird, just like the weird dog cemetary out front.
Did LSU really name their stadium after Clemson? This can't be real

Its a touchy subject. Apparently LSU named their's deaf valley, Clemson named their's Death Valley. LSU either got confused or was just envious of Clemson so the named changed. it depends on who's telling the story.

Was this before or after LSU became good at football in the last 15 years?

At a state level it is scary for sure. July 1 is the deadline, and if they don't have a good plan by then Moody’s Investors Service and Standard & Poor’s are both going to scalp their credit rating.
Moody's already downgraded their rating didn't they?

The LSU system? Yup.
I was talking about the state as a whole.

I thought Deaf Valley was a play off of Death Valley. Then some media guide or something got ahold of it.
Had to happen a while ago, "Death" Valley isn't PC enough to pop out of today's world. Neither is Deaf Valley, as that would be insensitive to the hearing impaired.
Hell neither is Chinese Bandits or Suck My Tiger Dick Bitch. Maybe PC doesn't mean the same thing in Louisiana.

Something you'll never hear someone say about A&M

From the few times I have been there, I thought Deaf Valley was appropriate. That place can get really loud and rowdy. I think people just starting confusing Deaf with Death.

Most would. It is loud.

On purpose. Because it sounds cooler.
Pretty sad actually. If you are going to steal someone's tradition, at least trademark that shite so that way you have a legitimate claim to it. Aggie could teach them a thing or two.

2) It is being built with student recreation fees. If they want to spend their money on an ugly-arse pool, it is nobody's business but theirs.
I read that too, maybe it's true, but it's a helluva lot of rec fees.
"The university maintains the money for the campus construction development has nothing to do with the budget woes. The money came from a special student fee assessment, approved in 2011 and earmarked specifically for the project."
So if they are paying all cash...4 years of fees from 30,000 students, that's over $700 per student.
How much was this special assessment per student? Did LSU seriously approve a $700 per student fee so they could pay cash to build this thing?
Even if the fee was only $200 per student, that's only about $25M in revenue since the assessment started. That leaves $60M to finance...with only $6M coming in from the special assessment every year. Even at only 3% interest, a $60M note over 20 years leaves a monthly payment of about $330,000 to pay for this thing.

I'm sure your math is probably wrong.

Yea anyone that actually believed LSU would go bankrupt is retarded. I question the tactic of floating that out as a possibility, yea it might have got some chunk of the budget back, but it gives a bad perception. Schools like SUNO would be gone completely if LSU was to be allowed to go bankrupt

I have no idea. But for starters I'd assume you pay per semester. Not annually.
