Agree. I was also shocked at Saban's press conference after the game. He wasn't critical like he normally is and said he was proud of the team's effort.

Saban is very critical most times, but when the team seems down / demoralized and when he knows they are going to have a lot of people coming down hard on them he usually picks that time to show the team a lot of public support.

Alabama is not a bad team, just not as good as some of the Bama teams of the past 6 years, especially on the offensive line. It has nothing to do with not playing hard.

I'm not sure why you'd be shocked. I think he realizes that there are some serious issues on the team and is trying a different tack.

Lack of proper respect for the worthy opponent has infected the Bama football culture for years now. It's institutional hubris. It's completely permeated everything now.

Yep! Too much talent, too many experienced coaches to play this badly. This is nearly an identical staff to ones we have won previous titles with.

I hear ya. It's a different look for him, for sure. Without claiming to "know what's going on in Nick's mind," I'd guess that he realized that going about things as he normally has isn't going to work this time.
