You're going to have teams that simply rest their players once they know they are going to the CFP. You're going to have senior players opt out more because the playoff lasts longer. It's going to water down the regular season. I fricking hate this push.

Maybe. Seeding will still matter. Would you rather play the 8 seed or the 22 seed?

How so? you think seniors that are playing on a playoffs team are gonna opt out of winning a NC? I don't see it.

In some ways yes. In other ways, many more teams will have something to play for in November.

I also think 24 teams is too many but I don't think it'll be as bad as some on here make it out to be.

But, no more 3 week layoffs inbetween Championship games. I hated it at first but it does provide meaningful football in December and gets rid of the garbage small bowl games.

Mike Leach was right. Just shorten the season to 10 games and run a 64 team playoff.

It could be decent if they would go back to more regional conferences

Is this a done deal? They're expanding the playoffs?

If so, when does it begin?

This would be great. Except I might stop at 32. All conferences go back to 8 conference games, plus 1 P5 and 1 G5 game. No more scheduling FCS schools. Allows for rivalry games between schools in different conferences and one cupcake. Season starts after Labor Day, ends Thanksgiving weekend.

This year it would look like round of 32 on Dec 5th, round of 16 on the 12th, round of 8 on the 19th. Take Christmas week off, semi finals on New Year's Day, Championship on January 8th or 9th, depending if you want it on Friday or Saturday. No more Monday night championship games.

In 2038 we'll be watching a 124 team basketball tournament and a 64 team football tournament.

I don't see what the big deal is, as everyone will be wanting a top 8 seed to get a bye. And I don't see anyone resting players during rivalry week. This is to get rid of all the crappy bowls where all the good players were opting out of playing in them

The race to finish ranked 23 or 24 isn't making the point you think.

Ole Miss should want a bigger playoff especially since Kiffin left for a bigger program. The jury is out on Stinky Pete.

Why have a season?

Just put everybody in the playoffs.

Let me ask you this:

If you can’t even make the conference championship game, should you be allowed in the p/o for the NC?

Almost every top 10 matchup is devoid of real stakes now. Both teams will be in the playoffs virtually all the time.

Name brand team with 4 losses will still make it. It's absurd. The same 16 core teams will be there every year.

The regular season will simply be a seeding contest just like college basketball. And college basketball's regular season completely sucks, because there's absolutely no stakes.

Probably SOONER than that. This will be the 3rd year @ 12 & they’re wanting 24!
