My vote would be for Coaches Shorts. We're now in an era where gender roles are blurring and the American male is being neutered, and bringing back Coaches Shorts would make a social and political statement, because nothing says "I'm a red blooded American male and frick you commies if you don't like it" like Coaches Shorts.
Being 8 years old and not understanding why you're pitching machine league coach keeps grabbing his crotch and readjusting his crotch is definitely a downside, especially when you ask your mom on the ride home from practice and she has to come up with an awkward answer.
But that's just trivial. Overall Coaches Shorts are the main thing that this nation needs right now.

Were break away jerseys a thing yet in the 80s?

Honestly,(even as a write this on Internet message board) I wish for a world without social media like we had in the 80’s. People loved their country. There was no confusion as to who is a man and who is a woman. Everyone didn’t hate each other. People still went to church. We still valued the family and individual responsibility.

Clemson: 2 Years NCAA Probation, 20 Scholarships Cut
By Mark Asher
November 22, 1982 at 7:00 p.m. EST
The Clemson University football program will lose 10 scholarships each of the next two years as part of sanctions in a two-year probation announced by the NCAA last night.
The university will take disciplinary actions against two assistant football coaches and four boosters, as well as being banned by the NCAA from bowl and televisions appearances for the next two years.

1) Actual emerging hip hop and rap music, not the corporate stuff of today.
2) Original Hollywood movies and not remakes of 1980s movies like we get today
3) Lack of social media . . .ability go wander withouot getting picked up by police
4) Actual life-changing technology being invented rather than the unnecessary crap we purchase today. Adding a VR headset to your airpods which compete with your Beats headset all linked to your iPhone is not the same as the emergence of mobile phones and the internet.
5) True belief in American Exceptionalism

My top 3 things that I miss from the 80s:
1. Knowing all of your neighbors because the vast majority of moms stayed at home.
2. The culture was better. You didn't have to live in a high dollar neighborhood to feel safe and secure.
3. No cell phones. People talked to each other and generally enjoyed life more.

Dude, they were called "tearaway" jerseys and they were an early '70s thing. And they were on their way out in the '80s because dudes were either running around out there with shoulder pads and a few shreds from their uniform flying around... or they were on the sidelines frantically changing into a new jersey every series.
The '80s was the time period of the "see through" mesh jersey accompanied by the giant shoulder pads.
Neck rolls and cowboy collars (along with the big shoulder pads) took over '90s fashions as the '90s as jerseys with any kind of holes in them went away.
What I miss from the '80s was all the dudes wearing towels stuffed in their pants with messages on them.
