If Kentucky would just hold it’s nose and hire Beard they will have upgraded.

I can't imagine the reaction of the fans if he was hired and implemented his "deliberate" style of ball. Rupp would rollover in his grave.

Someone explain to me why Shaka Smart would be a good hire.

His regular-season record is great, he was good fun at a mid-major, but he just doesn't seem like one of those guys who finishes well.

Outside of that magical FF 13 years ago, he's been back to one Sweet 16, and that was this season, when they also almost got upset in the Second Round. He's won a conference title maybe once in his career.

Is he really a guy that Kentucky fans would be fired up about?

He’s been really good at smaller market. He wilted at UT & his teams played like it. Think UK would only magnify that.

None of this really matters. If Pearl leaves for Kentucky and Auburn sucks, so be it. This stuff really doesn't matter that much. Plenty of life to live.

You did a much better job of summarizing what I was actually trying to say than I did.

It’s pretty comical that Arkansas fans believe that a coach who wasn’t getting it done at Kentucky with top recruit after top recruit is now magically going to get it done with the same said recruits at Arkansas.

Never a good feeling when your own fanbase starts resorting to this kind of philosophical, existential comforting

Wait, wut? He instantly infused life and energy into our dormant basketball program. Took Tennessee to the dance in 6 out of 6 years! Multiple sweet 16s, elite 8, SEC Champs, ect. I mean sure, we didn’t win a natty with Bruce. But it’s not like we didn’t kick a little arse some along the way under Pearl. We played a fun style of game and had nationally relevant teams to watch each year of that era.

Was a miraculous improvement compared to what the basketball program was prior to his arrival.

I'm using a comforting mechanism for something that hasn't happened, and I'm supposed to care a whole lot anyway huh? What emotions should I be feeling? Let me know. Should I poison trees or curse out some family wearing enemy colors? I should act like a child and be all emotional? Post stupid things on a message board?

Maybe tell yourself this: Never good when you take sports entertainment so seriously. It's entertainment. I'm not affiliated with Auburn any longer. Not since I graduated 30 years ago. I'll pull for them and when the game is over, I'll go about the rest of my day.

People grow up and find other things of importance. Auburn is still pretty good in basketball anyway. Does it matter? No, it really doesn't.

And I won't be giving any money to the Auburn NIL either. That's how much I care.
