There's not much difference between 12-1 and 13-0

especially when teams play different schedules. Bama got in over FSU because they beat the #1 team in the country who had won the last two NC and had just tied for the 9th best winning streak in college football history. Bama beating Georgia was historic because they stopped the 3-peat. A 12-1 Bama beating Georgia trumped FSU's 13-0. It's really that simple.

I wouldn’t call it simple. The question is whether the difference between a Top 5 schedule excuses a loss when compared to an undefeated team with a bottom 10 Power 5 schedule. Which we can argue all day about

There's a difference when the margin of error is razor thin. Bama lost, FSU didn't.

A 12-1 Bama team getting in over a 13-0 Florida St team is a complete joke and doesn't make any sense no matter how hard you try to justify it.

if jordan travis never got hurt, alabama wasn't jumping an undefeated FSU.

I agree. 12 regular season games and only 1 opponent won 9 games.

That’s not the question. The question is, does the committee have the right to get that team out because their QB is injured, which obviously they do. But they did not put Bama in because their loss outweighed FSU’s undefeated season. They did it because they didn’t think Rodegarden could handle it. There is no way they would’ve shafted one of the more popular SEC football teams like they did FSU, even without their starter.

If Oklahoma state had the same results this year as Texas and Mississippi st had the same results as Bama the top 4, the CFP would have been

Michigan
Washington
FSU
Oklahoma St

I don't care at this point "who" or "how" team A got in over team B.... but things like the quote shouldn't weight in on anything. bama got in by winning the SEC and beating the #1 in doing so. Period.

The CFP put the cart on these tracks with 5 conferences fighting for 4 spots.

Correct

quote:

Speaking on ESPN on Sunday, College Football Playoff committee chair Boo Corrigan explained why FSU was left out of the top four.

“Florida State is a different team than they were through the first 11 weeks,” said Corrigan. “An incredible season. But as you look at who they are as a team, right now, without Jordan Travis, without the offensive dynamic that he brings to it, they are a different team.”

According to the College Football Playoff selection committee protocol guidelines, the decision is made based upon a series of factors, one of which includes “unavailability of key players.”

I think the better question is whether Michigan's 13-0 trumped FSU's 13-0.

Being undefeated is great until you consider it was against the #55 SOS. A lot of teams would be undefeated playing such an easy schedule.

And where was ala ranked BEFORE last Saturday?
Where was Florida State ranked?

Did Florida State win their conference championship?
Yes, and holding a team that averaged 5 TDs per game to 6 points...

And how does the (%&%^&( 'committee' know if Florida State might have ONE OR BOTH of their QBs back - - - - - - - - - -
A FULL 'MONTH' FROM NOW ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Why do all the Bama posters keep posting justification. Do they feel guilty? Does anyone even care? Bama is in, the playoff format changes next year anyway.

Talk about the matchups or something different.

Florida State jumped from 8 to 4 by beating a crappy LSU team and stayed there cause they played no one else worth a damn.

Bama jumped from 8 to 4 after beating No. 1, undefeated, 2 time National champ Georgia and only losing to No. 3 12-1 Texas.

Seems fair to me.

The committee made the right choice but it is simple as that. An elite veteran QB allows you to smudge the numbers a bit. FSU’s resume was always going to be the worst of any of the contenders but elite QB play is a huge factor in winning a playoff. Only going to become a bigger factor as the playoff expands. The more games against elite competition you have to play, the more likely you’re going to need the quarterback to drag your team past the finish line in the 4th quarter.

And Michigan is undefeated playing the #112-115 SOS. That's a cakewalk schedule.

We lost to a literal playoff team. FSU didn't beat or even play anyone all year as good as Texas.

I did feel bad for FSU because I felt Texas should have been the team left out. You can't build an entire format and playoff based on one non conf head to head matchup. Texas' resume doesn't stack up outside of that one Bama win. They lost to OU. The only team worth a damn in their conf.

Bama earned their way in. Be mad at someone else. Be mad at Michigan. They had a 2 game schedule.
