Yeah but y’all couldn’t stop us in the second half either.

The biggest problem with not winning your division is that you play 1 less game (and we’re not talking about rent-a-wins here) than all the other teams in the conversation.
That is objectively an advantage. Objectively unfair to the rest of the playoff field.
The other problem is that, in losing, you get set up to potentially play for a championship — against a team that beat you... while there are other 1-loss teams making a case.
Sure, that happens in the NFL — where there are 32 teams and a larger playoff field. This league has ~120 teams vs 4 playoff spots... not f*cking comparable fellas.
There are some sound logical arguments against what I’m saying given a perfect storm/tailor-made CFB chaos situation, but in general... I don’t think it’s good for the sport, no matter what team we’re talking about.
Nor is not rewarding strength of schedule. The committee is totally acting in the best interest of CFB as a whole/in the long term by “disrespecting” Clemson.
This what you have to do to incentivize programs to schedule big games & make fans feel like the regular season matters for teams not named Ohio State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Michigan, Alabama, Clemson, etc
Here’s an interesting proposal: add a 3rd place post-season conference game for divisional the runner-ups.

After saturday, I have zero fear of facing Bama again on a neutral field. Could they beat LSU? Sure. They have enough talent that if we shite the bed, they could beat us. But if we played 10 times on a neutral field, LSU wins a minimum of 8 of them.

I have zero problem with this. I’m all for the 4 BEST TEAMS being in the playoffs.
What I do have a problem with though is forcing 1 team to play an extra game just because they WON their division. Let’s be realistic here. Conference championships don’t mean jack shite in the grand scheme of things.

What if the second best team in the division is the second best team in CFB? What if 1-4 in the conference was all from the same conference. Sorry to make your head explode, Aubie. Go roll some trees or something and stay off CFB boards.

Imo winning your conference should be a prerequisite.

In this case why not 3 teams in your conference? Auburn should have been in 2017 playoffs.

it to the playoffs. In saying that, I can sense some legitimate fear from LSU fans that it might just happen again... This year is different though, LSU is obviously the better team, They were up by 3tds at the half, come out extremely flat and sleepwalked through the second half until they needed to score. If I were LSU fans, I’d be excited to play bama again if the opportunity presented itself.
That's kind of the point. When it got close, Burrow and CEH went on 2 75 yard TD drives and Bama got a lucky completion on a bad scheme and Stingley falling down to make it close.
I don't think anyone wants to play Bama cause we've already beaten them. No value in beating them again. I think they want to see how they match up against another team. If Bama gets in then fine, but there's no reason to fear them. They're dangerous, no doubt, but we beat them once in their house. We'll do it again and not let up this time.

There is raw fear...that's about as bad as Alabama could play and LSU gets a 5 point win.
You can't count on them playing like they did in the first half again. But I doubt we'll get to see it.

Ended up with 4 losses.

You should have to win a conference title...people forget that winning the national title isn't anymore a mark of being the best team than winning the NCAA tournament. You are simply the champion that season.

Best 4 teams in the country should compete for the NC.

We did play outstanding football in the first half, I’ll give you that.
With that being said, I think we can all count on Bama's defense continuing to refuse to tackle in the upcoming weeks...
Just think about this, Bama had a bye week, played at home, are coached by the greatest of all time (it’s true), and still couldn’t wrap up Edwards-Helaire... I don’t see that changing.
At least when Bama scored it was because of a freshman db looking at the sideline, or even an elite punt returner doing what he does. You can coach coverage mistakes but you can’t coach intestinal fortitude.

It's possible for a 9-3 team or one with even a worse record to win their CC. So you'd rather have them in than a 1 loss team that is clearly better just because that team didn't make it to their CC? You got to look at the extremes when you make these rules. I don't think anyone would want that scenario.

4 best teams SHOULD BE the conf. champs. Why designate 1 if the title is meaningless?

In fairness I was told last night that Auburn had a legit chance to make the playoffs with two losses and no chance of winning their division by an Auburn fan. Two more was sitting there agreeing with him.
