Can't just be the phone call. It's something worse. I wonder what they're hiding.

I believe you are right...They discovered a lot after digging more into the phone records.

What who knows, except it deals with personal behavior

Yes, a pattern of personal misconduct going back a while that didn't involve the NCAA but allowed the administration threaten exercising the "moral clause". Whether it was using escort services or having an affair (which he had repeatly denied when confronted) will eventually come out.

There is an entirely different story that has yet to come out.

Yeah....and Houston Nutt was responsible for most of the allegations listed in that first letter.

If you take the administration at face value when it says that this has nothing to do with the NCAA investigation, then you have not been paying attention for the last 18 months.

It's not that hard to figure out.

Texts confirming he knew about violations, wiping away the excuse he never knew. Including but not limited to hookers for cruits and pay for play.

I would think this is fairly obvious by now.

OM was banking on the NCAA not having direct evidence of Freeze committing violations, therefore allowing them to fight LOIC. If they fire him after previously backing him, they admit it was LOIC. Now, Nutt's lawsuit and the subpoena power it introduced meant their strategy backfired, its all coming out, and they have no choice.

The rebs must have gotten their marching orders

They're starting to show up and recite the company line " personal actions / mistakes"

This is going to come back on the University. Mark it down

Occams Razor would point towards this explanation.

I think it's going to come down to the NCAA having to come up with reasons justify NOT giving them the death penalty at this point.

Nobody is getting the death penalty. The contractual complications with all the various conferences, networks, etc just make it too difficult.

Instead, you're going to see what's been happening. More show-causes for the individuals involved and heavy sanctions for the programs.

I'm ok with that - particularly the show cause part. Banning the coaches and staff involved effectively ends their ability to make a living in their chosen field. That's about the best deterrent you've got available.

If OM gets the death penalty, what is more likely... they get replaced in the SEC or both they and Mizzou get tossed?

This would have allowed them to potentially break the contract due to the morals clause. They probably reached some negotiation in which he resigns.

Miami ... actions were more extreme, more in the open, went on longer.. yet NCAA whiffed. If Miami was able to duck and cover, it would be hard to defend giving ANYONE the death penalty based on precedent.

Like what? Murders?

Freeze already admitted to Ole Miss he was cheating on his wifey for years - is that not enough to ruin someone's personal life?

death penalty

This term is basically a meme on the SEC Rant.

The only "death penalty" is a multi year bowl ban where players can transfer. That doesn't seem to make sense since Freeze is already gone. It could still happen but we won't know until November.

At this point would the death penalty be all that bad for a fan of the program?

Would you rather have the death penalty, and you no longer have to hear or worry about dealing with it?

Or

Would you rather become a joke of a program, putting up 3 to 4 win seasons for the next 25 years? Having to deal with turning on the game every Saturday to see your team get that arse handed to them?

Ole Miss may not get the death penalty..... But they are getting a program coma for the next 20 - 25 years

Nope. There is nothing more. Just a 1 minute call to a hooker in a different state. Everyone would resign from a $15 million job over such damning evidence.

I know it would be hard to share something negative about your school. This whole thing is a mess. What do you know?
