Just looking at the success some defensive lines had last weekend against quality opposition (Alabama's completely shutting down Wisconsin's run game, Texas A&M's committing several crimes against ASU's QB, Auburn's Lawson looking like a beast against Louisville). Not to mention a few others with lots of strength that I'm anxious to see against quality foes (UGA [though more for the LB corps], LSU, etc).

Could this be the year of the Front 7 (like how we, not so long ago, had the year of the QB?)

Picking a first and second team ALL-SEC will be tough with the amount of great options at each position.

Our LB corps is just disgusting. I've never seen it so strong. Hopefully our young guys on the DL come along sooner rather than later and can free the LBs up to penetrate the line more regularly.

Alex Anzalone is the breakout linebacker in the SEC. He very well may be the best linebacker in the SEC when it's all said and done. His speed is incredible.

our LB's still have a ways to go...they are much better than in the recent past, but not quite up to par with SEC standards....

Steep, steep competition with Ragland, Floyd, Carter, and Jenkins in that same category. That's not even considering the fact that Lawson and Garrett could be considered as OLBs in their own right

Ditto A&M. We lack real depth. We played a walk on for most of the ASU game. We should be getting 1 guy back form concussion, 1 back from suspension, and 1 back from off season injury soon so it should get better.

Agreed. SEC LBs are stacked this year. Ragland looks like he should be in the NFL already. Reuben Foster isn't the most experienced LB but he hits like a ton of bricks.

I think his point was that Anzalone has huge potential.

I agree that right now UGA overall has the best group of LBs.

I am anxious to see if we have gotten better.

Really, both lines. Both our OL and front 7 on D have underperformed in recent seasons.

A NFL draft site posted video of Lawson against Louisville a couple of days ago. I knew he had a good game, but I didn't even realize how good until I watched this video. Basically the only time Louisville had any success blocking him is when they double teamed him

Front 4, maybe.

I don't recall seeing LBs for few sec teams doing a great deal. Especially, a&m.

We had three LBs out due to injury/suspension and another was injured in the first half. We ended up with an unknown walk on playing nearly 50 snaps at MLB. Also, played a 4-2-5, so there were only two on the field the majority of the game.

All the LBs that were out are expected back over the next two weeks.

I think we are going to see a big swing back to defensive football in the conference this year compared to the last two. Just seems to be a lot more talent on that side of the ball across the board plus a lot of new QBs

Somebody has been seriously working with RF in the off-season. He showed a much better understanding of the defense on Saturday. I honestly thought he was too stupid to grasp Bama's defense. I was pleased to see him do work.

That guy is as disruptive as it gets. He's the kind of guy teams will have to game plan around. The Adams kid for Auburn was a load for Louisville to handle too. Auburn may lack the quality breadth and depth of a couple of other front 7s in the conference, but they have two of the best players in Lawson and Adams.

It's always the year of the front 7 for Saban and that is why they win most of their games.

I see his point and don't disagree. But don't be surprised if, for as good as he is, he doesn't even crack the top 5 LBs in the conference. It's just THAT deep this year.
