The writing is on the wall for NIL

That’s why Texas 8-4 has such a poor class right now. They know that the whole “the guys in those suites are going to be paying you a lot of money” BS is about to be not acceptable. Saban has nailed this whole thing from the beginning

No way they can put the genie back in the bottle. It would be called racists and discriminatory.

Watch Miami's number one booster. The NCAA is not going to touch him and that will be the standard for the NCAA with NIL.

Forget racism, they can't tell someone they aren't allowed to profit from their name.
The system was broken from the get go, but the NCAA thought they were unbreakable. Never put one iota of effort into making the system in any way just got the players. Just a big "frick you" for decades.
Screw em. They had years to fix the system and they just counted their money and laughed and tried to sell us on they merits of "amateurism"

it's because they promised those kids tons of money, and made them sign contracts that don't actually pay what they said it did. now players are talking to recruits when they come in.

They can prevent boosters from doing NIL deals.

They can prevent adults from paying/employing adults?
Sounds dumb as shite

I don't know where you get the notion that the ncaa was making money on college football. Basketball? Sure. But not football.
The conferences make the money (and consequently, it is the universities).
The only sales pitch that makes sense to me from the ncaa is to get legislation making the ncaa rules the legal law of the land.
Essentially, it would transfer police authority of the ncaa rules to the feds (who would have subpoena power and have real teeth to investigate violations. They would also bring teeth to deter violations).
Why would congress agree to this? I have no idea. It doesn't make sense other than why the NCAA would want this to alleviate their headaches.

I think you’re confusing us with Texas 4-8.
In fact, I’m sure of it.

It's no different than the guidelines that have existed in the NCAA for years when it comes to thinks like giving the player employment. You can hire them and pay them the same as you would pay anyone else for the position, but not more than that, and they actually have to go to work.
So a booster could do an NIL deal, but it would have to be proven to be at market value, meaning the same as they would pay anyone else to do the same thing. So you can't give a guy $1 million dollars to write a single tweet to his 4k followers.
In general, most players would have very little to no market value.

Truth. Fans keep yapping that the NCAA will do this and the schools will do that, but the impetus for NIL has zilch to do with anyone connected with sports or the universities, or anyone who gives three cacas what the almighty fans want or think is in their interests.
It comes from the courts and Congress, and if you look at what was actually said instead of doing knee jerk left vs. right or conservative vs. liberal allusions, thinking the players should be paid is one of the few issues of the last few years where Democrats and Republicans were completely on the same page.
This is the new reality moving forward, it will never change, it’s up to each of us as to whether we’re going to continue following college football in this brave new world.

Is the only reason they got the class they did. The real question is how many of them stay there long enough to even play.
