The rest of your post is good stuff too. Maybe learn how to format a simple internet post correctly without hitting enter at random in the middle of sentences before you try calling out another fanbase again for being trashy

And there are also Alabama students who remain Auburn fans, so I'm not sure what your point is there. Lifelong allegiances die hard

You just countered your own contention that most Auburn fans love the school more than most Alabama fans do. That is, if a fan is "lifelong" then he was certainly a fan long before he attended the school.

Personally, I think it's a silly observation all around, for any fan, but whatever. I would add that self loathing people, of whatever persuasion, are probably the worst.

Well, 1. The fan base size is the same as it was in 2004. 2. 90% of auburn fans never set foot in an auburn classroom. So dont act like your shite dont stink

You answered your own question. Parents graduated from a school, the child becomes a fan. Athletics should not be an issue when picking a school for academics

I didn't ask a question and that would be a good point if most Bama fans weren't bandwagoners with zero connection to the actual school

You actually did, but failed to punctuate it.

Unfortunately for y'all that 10% is a very quiet portion of the fanbase. Real Bama fans are mostly good people, but that 90% of bandwagon inbreds makes up 99.99% of the voice of the fanbase.
Do you think we’re blind?

Half my family is made up of bandwagon inbred freaks and losers who are either in jail, dead, or struggling to keep shite together.

Every single one of them is an Auburn fan.

It's weird how we outdraw Auburn in attendance in so many non-football sports considering Patrick Fain Dye's quote being so accurate.

Baseball - 2018
Alabama - 3,500 per game (last team in the SEC)
Auburn - 3,132 per game (Super Regional)

Basketball - 2018
Alabama - 13,990 (NIT)
Auburn - 8,221 (Final Four)

Softball - 2018
Alabama - 3,002
Auburn - 2,002

Weird. Need somebody to do some research there. Maybe Auburn people just chose to love Auburn from their couches.

People who choose a team based on nothing more than a little bit of winning are pathetic and weak people

Maybe so, but that defines probably half, if not more, of professional sports fans. As a long-suffering and lifelong fan of Atlanta pro sports, most of the folks I grew up around in Georgia were fans of other teams (Cowboys, Yankees, Celtics, etc) even though most of 'em had never even been to that state. The Patriots sucked back then and we never saw anyone wearing a Pats jersey...now I see lots of folk wearing Tom Brady jerseys...

When we'd go to Atlanta games (back in the 70's and 80's) most times there'd be more fans in the stadium for the visiting teams. Only when we made the rare play-off runs did Atlanta fans come out of the woodwork, most of 'em bandwagon...and most were gone the very next season...

Very few teams make a run like Bama has...naturally, it'll draw new fans, mostly bandwagon. Where are all the Miami-FL fans from the 80's & 90's? Used to couldn't go anywhere without seeing folk sporting Hurricane jerseys. And when this run ends, while our fanbase will still be fairly large because of tradition and the fact that football is the most important sport in the state of Alabama, our bandwagon fans will drop by the wayside...

you including softball. And those numbers are 50% capacity for Bama. Sellouts for AU. This is despite being an hour further away from the majority of our alumni.

I pretty much meet that description.

The only sport I watch anymore is college football. I quit watching baseball in the strike during the 90's, the NFL a few years ago because WTF are they doing. Nascar lost me about 10+ years ago, and I've never been a fan of basketball. Hockey could grab my attention, but it's a club sport and never on TV.

But I still pull for Alabama in every sport, academically, etc. Just like I pull for USA in every Olympic sport, metric, whatever.

I think the point is pretty clear - for a group that only loves football Alabama weirdly seems to put asses in the seats at other sporting events.

And capacity doesn't really matter in this discussion, as Alabama's figures clearly show it would max out capacity at your gym as well. Which is weird, since Alabama fans only love Alabama football, right?

Why? Alabama fans only love Alabama football. They surely wouldn't show up for some girls sport, right? Definitely wouldn't lead the nation in attendance for it.

Also, Alabama softball attendance is basically = to Auburn baseball attendance, so I'm not sure why you think that is so funny.

There it isssssssssssssssss.

Auburn fans love Auburn*

*unless it takes more than 30 minutes to get there, that distance is only traveled for football games

quote:

And those numbers are 50% capacity for Bama

Our basketball arena seats 28,000? Our softball stadium seats 6,000? Wow, news to me.

Once again, for a place where the fans only care about 1 sport, we weirdly fill up stadiums and arenas for sports NOT called football at a rate equal to our above what Auburn fills up.

I don't quite understand it, given that Patrick Fain Dye's quote is obviously right and Alabama fans only love football while Auburn fans love all their sports and University.

Gonna need someone to map it out for me.
