I've read this before, some reference about Coach Dye's pants. What was the real story ? Is it just a joke ?
If so, tell the joke, it's piqued my curiosity!

Fain Die, an old slobbering, nasty drunk that used to be auburn's coach went fishing on 'da lake and came home without his pants one steamy night down in Opelika.

20 years later, someone found his pants with wallet, car keys, credit cards etc. in a partially dried up lake.

Rumour has it that he got a train ran on him by his buddies and came home drunk off his arse without his pants. In the excitement of the moment, plus being hammered, he forgot his pants. How else does a man in his mid-40's simply lose his pants?

Can you prove it's not true? I don't think anybody except Bama fans would say it isn't

You are a smart guy, you know the types of things that are and are not proveable

You also know there are gigantic fanbases with massive trash sidewalk populations all over the country - for starters - Tennessee, Texas, Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State.

I don't give two shits, I hate our redneck FOGs more than any rival fan does, but there are tons of schools with massive non-alumni fanbases that have large swaths of white trash loud mouthed idiots. Half the list above has them all across the country (Michigan, Notre Dame) , and a couple more have them concentrated in states with much larger populations than Alabama (Texas, Ohio State).

I don't think Tenn is quite on the level of those others. OSU, ND, and Texas are up there for sure. But since at least 2012 I don't think anybody is on the level of Bama when it comes to trashy bandwagon fans

Spend 5 minutes in any town east of the Cumberland Plateau and west of the NC border.

Well, Scott, a middle-aged man doesn't just go out and lose his pants, even fully retarded ones that downed a fifth of Beam like Fainy liked to do each night.

Everyone knows Fainy was the town drunk and there have always been rumors about his homosexuality.

Sure, he is an idiot and a weak bastard that swills alcohol like water, to this day, but that doesn't fully explain it.

He and his "pals" likely had a "party" on their boat on Lake Martin and you know, his pants just ended up in the water by accident.

It wasn't quite the same kind of party most of us think of though when thinking of parties.

Is that supposed to be an insult? Like the best HC in UGA history wasn't an Auburn QB? And like his DC, the best coordinator in UGA history, wasn't an AU lineman as well as a baseball and basketball player for AU?

Pat Dye learned to drink from the best of them when he worked for Bear Bryant

Bryant is just lucky he was long dead before the social media era. Any HC that had to have an intervention and check into rehab for their alcoholism like the Bear did in 78 would be fired immediately. See that POS y'all keep hiring in Steve Sarkisian

Damn good point as always, Soggy.

Now that Cobb Dawg and Altie are both here I should probably just let the thread die

Watch from a distance and be sure to poke the fire anytime it looks close to going out.

Because 90% of Bama fans are just bandwagon that haven't had a single family member attend Bama, let alone themselves. They just use Alabama football to compensate for their shitty lives bc they have nothing going for them. It's sad really

My wife is a Bama grad. She watched both games today. We are in Biloxi. I played BJ with a guy decked out in Bama gear. I mentioned the first game that Bama won. He had no idea what I was talking about.....

I pretty much meet that description.

The only sport I watch anymore is college football. I quit watching baseball in the strike during the 90's, the NFL a few years ago because WTF are they doing. Nascar lost me about 10+ years ago, and I've never been a fan of basketball. Hockey could grab my attention, but it's a club sport and never on TV.

But I still pull for Alabama in every sport, academically, etc. Just like I pull for USA in every Olympic sport, metric, whatever.

Nah, that 2nd part means you are very much not part of group #1. Group #1 doesn't care at all what happens and it irritates them to even have to hear or read about other sports or academics because it takes away from 12 hours of footbaw talk.
