Unfortunately for y'all that 10% is a very quiet portion of the fanbase. Real Bama fans are mostly good people, but that 90% of bandwagon inbreds makes up 99.99% of the voice of the fanbase.
And even still, a lot of the alumni I know still couldn't give half a frick about any sport except football. Except on the rare occasion that softball is making a title run or basketball doesn't completely suck, then they'll become bandwagoners themselves band hop on til the ride is over, then they go right back to not caring again

A number of years ago, a woman found a pair of plaid pants in Lake Martin. They had been lost in the early 80's. They had Dye's keys, his DL, and his AU issued credit card in the pocket. Famously, Dye said he had absolutely no recollection of losing them.

Meh, we fill up arenas and stadiums when we are good and have league average attendance when we are bad.
The 90% suck, the alumni base cares about sports like pretty much any other SEC alumni base.

Oh good grief....
People like a winner, no problem there. There are actually some Auburn students that are Alabama fans.
I thought about going to Auburn for Chemical Engineering, but I can promise you I would have remained an Alabama fan.
My niece graduated Auburn with her nursing degree recently (her boyfriend was there- funny thing is they got married, but he had to ask his parents for permission before asking her - weenie) but she is the biggest Alabama fan you have ever seen.
She is going to Alabama to earn her advanced nursing degrees

Also, they were lost circa 1984. She fished them up in 2007. The wallet contents were in remarkably good shape. They had a party for the pants and Dye auctioned them off for $8k.

You answered your own question. Parents graduated from a school, the child becomes a fan. Athletics should not be an issue when picking a school for academics. I am sure there are many Auburn fans attending Alabama.

I hope UA does well in every sport. However, the only two that I will watch are basketball and football (at least until we add men's soccer or hockey).

Any of the state schools have plenty of bandwagon fans obviously, but no school in the country has as many as Bama, or as high a percentage of trash for fans as Bama
