I certainly see the irony of a LSU fan saying this with the current state of things

But really, not even the NFL has this level of frickery year in and year out. With the constant evolution of NIL, the only way to stabilize the market and get back to some semblance of what college football is supposed to be is go back to the old transfer rules. All that's happening is these kids are chasing the highest dollar amount possible, understandably so. If this continues, you'll continue to see the price tags go up to the point collegiate athletes will make more than their professional counter parts.

Great example: Brendan Sorsby will make $5M for the 2026 season at Texas Tech. That's more than HALF of the starting QBs in the NFL will make in the same time frame. Absolute insanity.

The NFL has rules. It’s regulated.

College Football is the lawlessness of the Wild West.

There is no governing body. It is The NCAA that died.

They just need to put a limit on the number of transfers a player can make. Some of these guys are on their 4th or 5th stop. It should be that you can make one transfer without sitting out a year. Use it wisely.

What do you have against people making what someone values them at?

Are we having fun yet?

Truth is we as fans best just change that dial. Football as we knew it is over.

This isn't a bad idea either. You've got a QB in TJ Finley about to be on his SEVENTH frickING SCHOOL.

Granted, he's trash. But the point still stands.

Hires the Portal King and then proceeds to (check notes) disparage the Portal Kingdom.

Baw, last year LSU threw more money in the transfer portal than any team in this nation.
If you don't like it, don't pump it.

I guess you missed the very first line in the OP.

I do think there needs to be a CAP and only 1 free transfer as an undergrad. Big 4 conferences just need to meet up and decide on what that CAP is.

That's definitely what should happen. Should be the same with coaching salaries. However, in those 4 conferences, it's a dog eat dog world, so nobody would purposely limit themselves.

Talk about an enormous benefit to being an independent.

Only two ways it dies.

Option 1 is that B10 & SEC pull away & form a super league, complete with player's union, draft, collective bargaining and enforceable contracts.

Option 2 is that fans get fed up enough to stop going to games, paying for ESPN and contributing to NIL.

Those are the only two legal options left to kill it.

Yep. Need to find a way to go back to 1 free transfer. Can get a 2nd free transfer as a grad transfer. Anything else you have to sit a year.

I’m sure the courts that made the decisions that caused the portal will get right on killing it for you.

Unchecked capitalism, much like unchecked freedom, is a bad thing. There needs to be structure and there needs to be safeguards. We don't have either of those things currently.

If coaches can do it, players should be able to do it as well.
