Will be:

1. Mississippi State
2. Florida State
3. Oregon
4. Notre Dame

Book it.

By providing the above list a few points are made.

No multiple teams from one conference. Conference champions carry weight.
Rewards tough scheduling for Notre Dame.
Big 12 and Big 10 needs to pick it up as a whole conference.

What say you?

I say, what is Notre Dame's signature win? They should not be considered because of their weak schedule and the loss to the only good team they have played.

And don't get me started on Oregon. They have squeaked by on several occasions and lost at home to a mediocre team.

I'd say it doesn't matter because it will change wildly the next 6 weeks.

They may not have ND in there, because ND isn't a top 4 team. Not even close. I don't think this is supposed to be a projection, it's supposed to be current.

ND's best win is a loss. TCU or Mich St as #4 would preserve the no two team thing, but I don't see why committee would be scared to put in 2x SEC on a ranking that they know they don't have to be held to.

I say the committee shouldnt be releasing a ranking. It's stupid. Just let them pick the 4 at the end of the season....

Will be interesting to see how the whole "conference champions carry weight" argument plays out with these first few rankings since there are no conference champions yet.

These first rankings will set an interesting tone for sure.

The Notre Dame tough scheduling thing is such a joke (but everyone looks to talk about it).

Look at every computer ranking system and their schedule is barely even in the Top 20. Why does a team that doesn't join a league get credit for play Power 5 teams? It is so stupid.

ND SOS Rank
Sagarain - 36th
ESPN FPI - 12th

Here are Notre Dame's wins (FPI rank)
vs Rice (77th)
vs Michigan (51st)
N Purdue (83rd)
N Syracuse (63rd)
vs Stanford (18th)
vs UNC (50th)

I mean..........WTF?

What is Alabama's signature win? West Virginia? Alabama will have their chance over the next few weeks; however, to this point, Alabama has no signature win either.

I'm not sure I agree with Notre Dame's "tough" scheduling. They seem to be getting more credit for almost beating Florida State and edging past a 3-loss Stanford team than anything else.

To be fair though, the end of that ND/FSU game was messed up. Yes, the call was correct but it wouldn't surprise me that ND gets more credit for their almost win than anything else out there (despite Ole Miss - over Alabama / Alabama - over WVU / Auburn - over KSU AND LSU) all have more impressive wins than Notre Dame has managed.
