This is exactly what the fans of every other school do when Alabama claims all of its 18 or 20 or whatever number they are up to claiming is now.

Your statement tells me you know nothing about football history or Alabama (or likely LSU) except what you’ve read on Tr. You boys go outside and play for two hours…don’t make me come up there…

Auburn is a recognized national champion in 1913 by pretty much everyone except for their own dumbass fans.

Ncaa.org has a listing of virtually every NC from any somewhat recognized selector. It also breaks it down to "major" selectors, consensus selectors, etc.

The most "comprehensive" list has Auburn with 5 and Alabama with 23 I think.

The 5 it lists for Auburn are 1913, 1957, 1983, 1993, 2010

actually, I've seen the list you're talking about but can not provide. It lists about any publication, such as Opelika Farm Report, that ever decided to bestow a title to a college football team. It lists Alabama with some crazy number like 28.

very simple. Just go by ncaa.com

Why would you go by their website when the NCAA doesn't award National Championships in football? Their say on the matter is as valuable as any random poster on this board

We should also claim the 1958 title since we went undefeated for the second straight year and therefore never lost the belt from our 1957 title.

I'm also willing to accept 2013 since everybody knows Tallahassee PD covered up rape charges for Jameis Winston, otherwise his arse would've been sitting in jail the night of that game

No school I know of just “claims” a title based on a good record.

This would be a lot better if it came from someone who wasn't an Alabama fan.

if you click enough links from that page, though, it will eventually take you to ncaa.com, which is that I already posted

What a minute.

Are you telling me that LSU has more national titles (5) in football (per the NCAA page you linked) than any other SEC school, past or present, not named Bama?

That can't be right.

Also very impressive that Bama has now tied Yale for the most. LSU needs one more to catch Minnesota.

Let stop all this bickering among ourselves and get back to the true topic: How many NCs mythical or otherwise does Georgia have the last 40 years?

All my calculations are coming back with a big fat ZERO

Unless of course you mean the state of Georgia, in that case the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets brought home 1

Clearly 1913, 1957, 1983 and 2010 should be claimed. I'd argue under the BCS rules Auburn knew prior to the 2004 season what was required and has to accept the consequence even if Auburn was clearly the best team that year and more deserving of the final game than either of the other two teams.

The 1914 team is the one that has some debate, but let's be honest everyone knows Auburn was the best team in 1914. The boys drinking too much on the train ride over into Georgia before the game shouldn't take away from what anyone with eyeballs could see watching the games. The 1914 Auburn team was clearly the best team and because of that we should be champions. Those boys got robbed because they didn't have the advantage of the eye test that now exists in CFB.

As ridiculous as some of the title's Bama claim are, the only stat that really matters is in the last 15 years Bama has won 6 national titles and Auburn 1.

Are you claiming a national championship for every win against LSU? Interesting.

As the very fabric of college football undergoes historic changes, it’s time for Auburn to change, too. It’s time to unapologetically celebrate every national championship that can be claimed. Nothing else really makes any sense. It is time to just do it, and if others ridicule it or don’t like it, so be it.

I agree. I think every team should claim every title that the NCAA recognizes.
