There are only 2 main conferences really now..SEC and Big Ten...it will shift to one or the other every few years...both conferences have quite a few programs that can be elite but with the transfer portal you can't be elite every year now. You can be good, but not elite most years. Building depth now is a pain.

The SEC has become a soft finesse conf for whatever reason. Big 10 is so much more physical

You contradict yourself. We agree on the fact that we have more African Americans who are good at football. The reasoning behind it is moot for the topic at hand, as the facts remain, there are more of them in the southeastern region.
It's not a myth when there's data to support it.
Regardless of the reasoning you may hold, they do not detract from the main point. The talent here is undisputedly not a myth, whether you want to blame the slave trade or whatever else, the southeastern region has more talent is fact.

SEC fans literally cannot understand that now that paying players can be done openly, it's just a coincidence that the SEC is, at best, on par with other conferences. By the way, that's generous to the SEC. The SEC's bowl record speaks for itself.
When players were NOT PAID the BEST players CHOSE the SEC because it was the BEST way to the only payday. The NFL.

Tell me when the SEC was not paying players pre-NIL?

Not sure any sane SEC fan believes that, but keep making it up as you go. Top handful of teams in the B1G are on par with the SEC. Below that, they don't hold up. You really want to know why the SEC isn't doing as well? I've already seen it mentioned. Before the transfer portal, SEC teams could hoard players and build much more depth. I always said the difference between most top SEC teams and others was depth. Can't stockpile players like before. Depth is lacking and injuries are much more impactful. The money simply makes it more attractive for a player to go to say an Indiana team they would have never considered before. Before, they would have probably went to OSU and hoped to compete for playing time instead of playing sooner at IU. You are seeing the same thing in basketball, except schools are spending the same percentage of money on bb as in football because football brings in more money and at the end of the day, that's what all of this is about anyway.

So, ALL the trophies for the SEC weren’t based on talent all these years?

What am I making up? There was a poster who said that players were choosing the SEC before payments and I asked, when was that era? So you tell me what I was making up?

Ryan Clark & Cam Newton have thoughts?

Didn't watch- but Oklahoma was knocked out by another SEC team, not the Big 10. UGA was knocked out by another SEC team, not the Big 10.
The SEC isn't "dropping like flies" in the playoffs because the Big10 is dominating them. The brackets have the SEC teams beating each other.

There are a few factors. NIL allows open payment of players. A major SEC advantage is now gone. The other factor is that teams now have to prove it on the field with the expanded playoff. There were a lot of years when SEC teams got automatically put into the final four or two teams. Look at this year - under the old system, UGA gets an automatic pass to the final four or the championship game (the even older system). This year? They lose the first playoff game they play. Under this new system, SEC teams have to prove it on the field, not just acclaim themselves as one of the best because they play in the SEC. Results don't lie. Look at how the SEC has done since the new playoff system and NIL.

Did you watch Vandy against Iowa? Opt outs weren't a factor by the way. The Big 10 has definitely outperformed. Tell me who in the SEC beat Alabama by 35 this year?

BINGO!!!
Now it’s the B1G’s turn to knock 1 of their own out of the title run (Indiana/Oregon).

Sort of. They were getting auto-seeding right into the final four or two.
And there were many years where you really couldn't tell if they deserved it because of course, there can only be so many regular season games. But the SEC media push of their conference superiority meant that their teams got pushed hard. Look at UGA this year. Just remember - under the old system, they are in the final four or two. But they couldn't even make it past the quarterfinals. That's called having to prove it on the field.
