Playing in games is better than not playing in games for a players actual development. Obviously.

Not obvious at all. Games are only 12-15 days a year. A player coached by Nick Saban the other 350 days will come out ahead of someone coached by a lesser staff more often than not.

The fans complaining the most are the annual top 3 programs of the past,ALA,GEO ,OH ST . Every year those were in the playoffs or BCS whatever. All bought players had more recourses pre NIL and stacked 5@4 stars on their rosters. They hate parity and competition. Now their coaches have to coach ,talent won’t win it for them anymore.

Florida hasn’t been irrelevant for 15 years. I like watching high quality football even if it’s not my program. You’ve sacrificed quality for parity in the name that it makes the sport better. It doesn’t.

Saban’s run will never be accomplished again and it’s not like they won 15 straight championships. The sport was just fine from the 21st century until this horseshite I’m watching now. Even with bama’s insane run that will never be seen again; 14 different teams won a national title in 26 seasons. This retarded trope that it only affects 3 teams is just dumb.

It is all speculation but I think its pretty reasonable to expect teams that used to have no transfers in from former 5 stars who were sitting on the bench waiting to play at Bama to be a little better now that they have a couple starting.

Jerry Rice was once stuck at Mississippi Valley State for years. Today he'd be in the SEC by his junior year.

^ this. People don’t understand quality over quantity.

Well thats quite the assumption.

Saban was 3 deep with 4 and 5 star recruits.

Did he coach them up or did he just hoard talent away and reap the rewards?

Not that difficult to coach up Derrick Henry.

It might be reasonable if you expect those 5*s, and all the other players, to have the same continuity in development and understanding of a system. They do not, unfortunately.

Im pretty sure that the 15th ranked teams of today would completely dog walk the 15th ranked team of 5 years ago.

You’re incorrect. These teams can’t even open field tackle week in and week out but they are going to dog walk 2021 Georgia’s defense that had 6 1st rounders on it. Ok, very logical conclusion.

I think it’s fair to say he coached them up based on how well a lot of them played and how highly they were drafted.

They were incoming 5 star prospects.

They honestly didn't require a lot of coaching up.

Alabama loaded up on talent.

Most of them still require a lot of coaching to be top NFL level prospects.

If you feel otherwise, I don’t know what to tell you.

You are talking about the 15th ranked teams then use the #1 team as your example.

Good grief.

Look Saban is a great coach and all that.

But you really dont have to be thay great a coach when you've got more talent on the bench than 90% of teams have on their starting units.

Lmao more 3 star players go to the NFL than 5 star players.

I see we’re just talking out of our arse now for the sake of how your team is performing?

I am a Florida fan, we haven’t been relevant in 15 years I have no dog in this fight other than I like watching quality football.

No one with eyes and a degree of objectivity can sit here and tell you the quality of play in college football hasn’t gone down but ok man your 24 year old QB has your school in the best spot they’ve been in for the last 70 years so the whole sport is better off lmao got it

Walter Peyton was stuck at a no name lower division school.

He'd have transferred and played today.

It makes a real difference.

It will be interesting to look back in a decade and see what percentage of 5*s are drafted and drafted highly in the pre and post transfer portal eras. I’d place a large wager that the percentage of 5*s drafted drops off significantly.

I mean the recent QB classes alone are a disaster from a development perspective.

One example just makes the rule now. Also has nothing to do with overall quality of play. That’s good for individual players and im for it. I’m not going to sit here and pretend it’s good for the sport that some kid bounces around paychecks to 3 different schools and doesn’t build continuity and depth and development.

If you don’t believe quality depth makes great teams — I don’t know what to tell you. The play is down. The product of the sport is down week in and week out.

There are 100s of examples of kids who were stuck in d2 that ended up in the NFL.

Today, the move up and elevate the talent in d1.

Over the past 25 years?

You're actually really dumb. Seriously.
