Depends.

They are all full of the best of the best. Defenses are incredible, as are offenses. Sometimes, that low stat line is the product of an amazing effort. The parity is extreme. It's why teams lose by 2+ scores in the first match and win by the same in the next.

It's about parity. My issue with the NFL is the amount of players who make more than the coaches and clearly take plays off or undercut the coach-player dynamic through disrespect or even, apparently, walking off the field today because you "don't want to play."

The same is emerging in CFB. And, it's sad, but the future NFL teams will be full of players who never had a humbled attitude. The NFL product will be the inmates running the asylum within the next decade.

NFL product is incredible. Near perfect production. Monster hits on most plays. Teams pay for mistakes. Multiple outstanding catches per game.
Play calling and strategy is mostly predictable but the only real problem is off the field: The players and stakeholders are simply unlikable and there is almost no sense of team or belonging. Sure, you can CFB is heading that way, but it still isn’t even close.
Equally unlikable are the fans. All they want to do is larp as the GM instead of just enjoying the game. They all think they’re smarter than the coaches.
Rivalries are trash too. Cowboy’s stadium menu is basically all Philly fries and sandwiches. Nobody bats an eye. Can you imagine if Ohio stadium featured all Michigan foods?

There are too many bad teams right now. Count them. The Jets, Patriots, Dolphins, Browns, Bengals, Jaguars, Titans, Colts, Raiders, Bears, Saints, Panthers, 49ers, Cowboys, Giants. Falcons, Cardinals and Seahawks are borderline.

Games involving most of those teams are just flat out boring and unappealing. And with the 17-game schedule, injuries are getting to be more and more of a factor.

I’m kind of enjoying the season and watching Tampa.

This.

It's a few scripts away from becoming pro wrestling.

With the current players agreement, teams simply do not practice enough. The quality of the product reflects that. Too many 23-17 type games for me. Close, but not excitingly close, if that makes any sense.

The spirit and soul of sports is diminishing

Some people would call this dramatic, but I think it's true. Money has sanitized the major sports and taken away most of the passion. Players are more motivated by money exclusively than ever before.

Meanwhile, conference consolidation & 24/7 media coverage has taken away a lot of the regional rivalries & culture. Gone are the days of Lewis Grizzard's SEC, where all the schools & coaches had their own colorful, distinctive personalities. Unfortunately I'm not sure how it comes back in this era.

Yet you haven’t watched in a decade but have this opinion

This thread is a weird echo chamber. This nfl season has been a ton of fun. And I say that as a fricking saints fan

The NFL is dog shite. Completely unwatchable. I try and end up changing the channel every single time.

If we are going to do this money ball shite now, I would rather watch the more talented players.
I feel the same. I'd much rather watch an NFL player show their skills than a young college kid getting paid hundreds of thousands who's transferred between 2-3 teams frick around on the field.

It's been sports entertainment rather than a sport for longer than a decade.

The product on the field is TERRIBLE. You see teams winning games now and the QB threw for like 102 yards, 1 TD, and 2 INTs.

I can't even put my finger on what it is that makes it so bad. It just is.

Several things have changed.

1) The two high look has upped safety play tremendously. And, teams are struggling to adjust to having to drive the whole length of the field.

2) Officiating is horrendous & inconsistent, which often favors the defense.

3) WR’s are more athletic than ever but are worse at running routes & catching the ball.

4) In passing situations, the DL are significantly better than the OL right now.

All of that means red zone, time management & 3rd downs have never been at a higher premium.

Games are rigged in many instances, choreographed. QB position is a glorified running back with magical rules where you can’t touch them. 80s nfl defenses would routinely knock qbs out of games as a strategy so the qb had to stay in the pocket to read defenses.

NFL has turned into the nba essentially. Watered down entertainment

Audience numbers say America loves the game. TV audiences for the NFL are highest since 2015. Also top events over all televised shows.
