I've heard there was some division in with the Athletic Dept and other factions at Au over this. Any truth to that rumor or anything you've heard concerning that?
Since the Bama insiders are consistent with this info (division over Cam within AU), and the timing of the "Boom", could this have to do with one of the overruled big-wigs at AU resigning and going public?

What a sorry human being.
April 25, 1988: During an NBC interview with Connie Chung on the subject of stress, Knight utters the now-infamous quote: "I think that if rape is inevitable, relax and enjoy it." The remark triggers a protest march of about 300 people on the Indiana campus.

I haven't heard of the specifics of the division, only a general thought process that it was Administration vs Athletic/Boosters concerning the decision on him playing Sat.

Up until last Thursday. Chizik and Jacobs haven't said squat since. Other than "no comment" from AU.

I have communicated with W&L for around 7 years concerning insider info related to SEC football. He was at his peak while Shula was the coach and knew nearly the entire coaching staff at that time very well. He attended most practices and would always report on who is looking good, etc.
His connections are still substantial, but he does not have the same access to Alabama football that he once had now that Saban is here.
In real life he is a fairly influential religious figure in the state who works with athletes at the high school and collegiate level. He does not post much, and nearly never about casual things. When he sends me something, I read it carefully. Having said that, he is an Alabama fan, but not one of those that is "out to get" another program.
I would put some stock in any post of his, but more in those related to Alabama as opposed to Auburn. What he is hearing about this scandal is likely coming from the Alabama camp and not from Auburn sources. He never gives up more info than he has to as he protects his sources very well.
I think he basically told us what our instincts were already saying....just that we now know our instincts are shared by people more in the know than ourselves.

The Petrino/Tuberville fiasco did nothing if not show the SEC world that Auburn was a house divided, right? It's not hard to imagine. Remember Will Muschamp's abrupt departure from there? There were people who still knew him from his LSU days and evidently he had some ominous shite to say about the inner workings of Auburn...

They would have to put him into witness protection. He couldn't step foot in the state of Alabama for the rest of his life. No way he would last 24 hours on his own. Someone would kill him if he rolled over on Aubbie.

Ross,
Take the statement above and think about this for a minute.
Have you ever heard the statement, "the inmates are running the asylum"?
I think Auburn fans may actually be about to get their University back after all is said and done. Boosters and powerful people sometimes think they are more important than what they represent, this is what creates corrupt politicians.
How can you have a lack of institutional control when you don't have control of the institution? I think Auburn University itself is going to be fine in the end but I think the Federal government is about to take out the trash. The trash may be some people that you don't even know exist and there may be a few that you do know exist.
I would enjoy the season and let the rest unfold.

Oh I have no doubt auburn boosters have likely been running wild since chiz was hired. They bailed him out of football hell and he's now their puppet.

Speaking of Tub-o-Ears, ever since Camgate broke, I keep thinking about a Tony Franklin quote. Something to the effect, "people would be shocked at the stuff that goes on at Auburn - it would make headlines for the National Enquirer."
Tony Barnhart said on Talkin' Football tonight that Camgate is far from over.
Who knows how this sorry affair is going to play out but nothing the Feds or NCAA unearth would surprise me.

Monticello,
Are you talking about a guy that had a name that would be consistant with the initials BR on Tidesports?

Ross your one of the better posters on this sight and for guys like you I will hate if any of this is true because the fans suffer just like Albert Means the fans suffered for something that they have no control over they just support their team, but some of the guys over here from AU are just intolerable, if this is bad you and marines and rb jnes and a few of the others might want to disappear for a day or two because it won't be pretty.

If your TD.com handle is the same as in other places, I hear you are quite revered for your insight as well. At least on TideSports.
If what tuck has claimed in that our compliance office, after the NCAA meetings, were actually against playing Newton, well, then, it goes without saying what that entails.

But, as stated earlier, it could be a net positive for you guys.
You guys could finally get an AD run by the University.
I hate it for guys like you. . .but I still think you will just get vacated wins.
I am hoping that is all that happens. . .for your sake.

And finally, if leadership can be brought to the forefront, (and yes, this is the only prediction about which I cannot put forth what I consider strong evidence), you will be kicked out of the Southeastern Conference in a unanimous vote.
Please make this come true. Letting Auburn join the SEC was the single worst decision in the history of this conference.
Their cheating ways may have cost LSU chances at an additional two BCS titles this year by knowingly using an ineligible player or players and in 2006's infamous Refgate.
If these allegations are true, there is no reason to keep Auburn around any longer. They have proven multiple times, over the course of decades, that they are mired in a culture of cheating that they are either unable or unwilling to change.
Kick 'em to the curb. You can't season rotten wood.
